"You haven't compensated the families?" Calvin asked a Beta, who stood in front of him. Today was his most dreaded day of the week. It was the day when his wisdom had to be used and stretched. He'd managed to solve a couple of problems from packs and he'd left the wolves satisfied. He was always tensed during this day.
"No, Calvin" replied the Beta. The problem he faced now was with a family, who's child had been killed in a measly fight. The child wasn't able to shift into a wolf because he or she hadn't triggered their curse. The killer of the child had now triggered their curse. In their world, humans who haven't began to shift into wolves had to trigger a curse. In order for them to do that, they had to kill someone. They had to kill either a human who hadn't began to shift, or a human who could shift into a wolf. It's called a curse because whenever a wolf newly began to shift, transforming during a full moon was very painful. The new wolf had to feel every bone in his or her body break and it caused excruciating agony. His or her sense would become heightened and he or she could hurt anyone who stood around, be it a wolf or human. No wolf could escape the full moon, so it was inescapable pain on every full moon."They refuse to be compensated" the Beta told him"Why's that?" Some families who'd lost their loved ones due to murder had always acted that way, at first."I can't explain. We've tried but the mother of the child who died says her only compensation was bringing her child back to life"Calvin let out a frustrated sigh, he'd been through this before. He'd have to summon the mother to his domain, the next week, but that'll just increase his work load. The last time he'd done this, his mate, Alexis was there to keep him company. Her presence alone, eased the burden he felt, he didn't really expect her to come to him now because she was still recovering and she literally had a memory loss. He'd just have to get through this alone."I summon the bereaved family. Tell them to meet me in my next session. They...." He trailed off when he saw someone enter. Who the hell was that? No one dared to come in while he was attending to his pack.... He looked closer. It was Alexis! She appeared now as if she just materialised from his thoughts."Alpha Calvin...." He heard the beta call him but he wasn't listening. His mate looked gorgeous. It looked as if she hadn't escaped from a traumatic event and she was just normal.... no, different! But in a good way. Suck on that, Raymond! He thought in momentary triumph. He watched her shyly smiling as she approached him. Seeing her alone was making his heart palpitate."Good day, Calvin" she bowed slightly as she came next to him.Acting on impulse, he pulled her swiftly, she let out a gasp as she landed on him."What--- what are you doing?" She whispered, straight faced. She seemed embarrassed by his open display of affection, in the midst of the Beta and some wolves he attended to."I missed you" he said as he grabbed her waist and made her sit on him. Still embarrassed, she tried to stand up, but he didn't let her."Sit. Please""But ---" she protested"Please" his gaze bored deep into hers. He usually used this tactic with Alexis, in an effort to cajole her to submission, so he tried it now."Okay" she whispered. It worked on her. Maybe she hadn't forgotten about that one."Like I said, I summon the bereaved family, if you can't convince her to accept my apologies and compensation, then tell her to come to me. I'll do better in convincing her" he said to the Beta."Yes, alpha" the beta replied"Any other problem?""No, Calvin. You've solved all of them for today. I'll come with the family in our next meeting " the beta said"You can go now""Thanks" said the beta, then he left with the other wolves he came with as they were escorted out by the sentinels. He and Alexis were alone to themselves now."Hi" he said to her "how are you feeling?""I'm doing well " he noticed as she looked down, and she had her hands balled into tight fists."Hey," he called as he held her hand, she immediately loosened the fist. "You can tell me if you feel uncomfortable""No, I'm --- I'm okay. I just feel hot, that's all""No, you're not okay. I won't rush you or pressure you to reciprocate my love " he said"I don't need to rush you, you'll fall for me again, in a month. I can guarantee that" he bragged smugly and felt happy as she stared at him wide eyed, then burst into laughter."You can do that?" She laughed"Yes. I've got charms, you know""Really?" She continued laughing and he joined her. His heart warmed, his mate was back and safe and he couldn't wish for anything else.Their magical moment was put to a halt when a knock was heard on the door. It was an omega."Come in, talk and leave" he instructed"Good day, Alpha Calvin, I was sent to announce the arrival of your brother Raymond and his escort, Amber "He froze in his seat. Raymond dared to show up now of all times? Well, he was about to meet a huge shocker."Tell the sentinels to escort them in " he said and the omega left instantly."Hey, I need you to leave." He said to Alexis."Why?""I want your appearance before them to be a shock"She stood up from him quickly. He didn't want her to, but he didn't have a choice, for that moment."Look, Alexis, I don't want them to know what happened to you. I don't want them to know that you have a memory loss" he said"Okay" she replied"So can you act? Like pretend you're fine ""Sure." She forced a smile"Go and meet Dante" he said as he watched her leave.Damn, he didn't want to let her out of his sight but he just had to, for now.Minutes later, he watched Raymond enter with Amber. They both had this confident aura surrounding them. Like they both celebrated a silent victory."Hello, brother" Raymond's gruff voice filled the room. "Hi baby" Amber greeted too. They both helped themselves to a seat."To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" He smirked at them. If only they knew that he'd won and they'd lost..."The last I checked, you sent an omega to me, to make a bargain for your mate's safe return. You don't seem to be interested again. Do you want her dead?"Raymond asked.Alpha Calvin smiled to himself. So they didn't know? They didn't know that she'd escaped? Foolish set of people. They hadn't even mastered the art of kidnapping."I have no interest in engaging in a duel with you, Raymond. I intend to retain my alpha tittle, till I die" he said to them, in a firm voice."Darn it! " Raymond cursed loudly. "You were eager to see your mate before. What's suddenly changed?""You can keep whoever you have,
Amber waited until she got into the beta's domain, then she let out a furious shriek. She pushed ancient artefacts down and she shattered glass. She wanted the ground to open up and swallow her whole. She'd failed again. She'd lost Calvin to that whore again. She remembered how they flirted with eachother. How that slutty girl sat on Calvin's lap and tried to kiss him. She felt nauseated. Her man was being snatched from her, yet again and she had no control over it. She let out a loud scream again as she shattered more glass. Her skin bled and healed severally but she didn't care. She didn't feel any pain. The pain of losing her alpha to someone else covered it all. She let out another scream."Amber!" Raymond roared at her. "I let you destroy my precious artefacts but I won't let you block my ear with your shouts" She'd forgotten where she was. She'd forgotten that this wasn't where she lived, she was at Raymond's house. "He--- he ignored me", she said to Raymond as her chest tight
She scoffed. This wasn't solely her fault. Raymond lacked oversight too. He failed to notice that Alexis hadn't died."You only attacked her with wolfsbane" he said "You didn't confirm if she was dead. That was your careless mistake""And you're innocent? You didn't also confirm. I agree I was with her. I attacked her and she bled and stopped moving. What did you want me to think? That she was paralyzed instead of dead?" She fumed at him"Amber, that's it! That's what I'm referring to. You lack meticulosity""What do you mean? Aren't we in the same situation? You are not blameless because you made the same mistake I made" She argued."I didn't" he disagreed. "I only acted upon the impression you gave me. You made me think she was dead" Amber could attest to that. She panicked so much when Alexis stopped moving. Anyone who was with her would think that Alexis was dead. She was sure Alexis died at her hands. But it turned out that she didn't die after all. That girl who sat on Calvin'
Davina woke up early. In fact, she'd been waking up early since she arrived at this universe. She found it difficult to sleep soundly as she tried to get used to the new environment, but it didn't bother her much because she had always been a morning person. All she had to do was press a small button in her room if she wanted help from any of the omegas but she didn't press any button even if she needed help because she figured they'd still be sleeping by now.Not knowing what to do to busy herself on such an early morning, she covered herself with some clothes and quietly stepped out of her room. She was going to take a stroll round the environment. She hoped she wouldn't get lost because this domain or whatever was very large and she didn't know her way around yet.The day had just begun to break so she could see her way around, identify some people who had already woken up. They'd already started cleaning and some were trimming the grasses. They were very quiet about it and they bo
The omegas bathed her and dressed her up in preparation for her martial arts class with Maggie. Then she was led to the venue which was a lonely and quiet field.Maggie was a five feet tall lady who was a little ripped. She had a brown coloured hair which she plaited in two. She bowed slightly and made a brief introduction of herself. Twenty six years old and a guardian wolf. Apparently, a guardian to the omegas. She started teaching Davina the basics of martial arts before they progressed. She made Davina come at her while she defended herself, which was a total flop on Davina's part, for she couldn't even land a proper punch. At the end of the session, they had a little pep talk and it helped to lift Davina's spirit a bit.She practiced what she'd learnt alone in her room before she fell asleep before dinnertime. The next morning, she demanded the the class should begin before sunrise in order for her to achieve a lot. Maggie followed her instructions and they began. Davina learnt
Davina let out a startled gasp and jumped off of Dante's body. She had been so engrossed in her moment with Dante that she didn't realise that she was being watched by Calvin. The amount of guilt she felt right now was immeasurable. How could she be doing this? How did she get so carried away? She saw Calvin's deadpan expression and she coughed awkwardly. "Um... Calvin, I didn't realise..." She attempted to speak but her voice trailed off."You got so into it, didn't you?" Calvin asked as he watched his wide eyed mate. He didn't know why she felt so awkward. It felt as though she didn't want to get caught training with his beta. Too late, because he'd been watching them for a while now. He felt bad about not been able to see his mate for these past few days because he'd been so swamped with work; concerns of the pack, so when he got the report from his beta; Dante that he was going to train with his mate, he decided to wrap up his work, then go see how well his mate had learnt marti
Later that night, Davina couldn't sleep as she rolled continuously on her queen sized bed. After spending some time with Calvin, she had a light dinner and some omega wolves were dispatched to her room to prepare her for bed.But then she couldn't sleep because the pain she felt from her sprained ankle tripped overnight. She tried to force herself to sleep by having sweet and peaceful thoughts of Calvin but it was useless. Now she sat up and rested her back on the bed rest. Her ankle had swollen a bit and she bet it would get worse if she didn't do something about it now.She knew she just had to press a button in her room and they'd come running to her but she didn't want to yet because she felt bad to disrupt their sleep.Dinner had been concluded a long time ago and from the silence that fell, she knew that everyone would be deep asleep by now. Except her though. She too deserved sleep but her sprained ankle wasn't letting her have some. She decided to be quick. They'd just get an
Her eyes were covered with a blindfold as she was led by her boyfriend. As she followed him, she was conscious of the scent and heat emanating from the candles in the room."Where are we, Calvin?" She asked in a voice filled with jitters and anticipation. "You'll see" he said and left her to be"Calvin?" She called as she wasn't hearing any movement or sound from him."Yes, my darling... here you go" he said and gently removed the blindfold. An awed gasp escaped from her lips. She was right. Calvin had brought her to a scenting candlelit room. She was thrilled to see beautiful decorations laying around and she wondered why he went through all these for her. Before she could ask him why, he got down on a knee before her and brought out a small box. She gasped again."I can't imagine my life without you in it" he began. "Will you be my girlfriend, Amber Trafford?" Tears blurred her vision and she made to speak but before she could, she felt a sudden wave of chilling breeze on her skin
