WINTER POV

My gaze locked onto the middle hunter, who appeared to be the leader of the ten. He stared me in the eyes with a cold intensity as if daring me to do my worst.

Fury surged through me as I considered all the things the hunters had come to do. They had come to take me away, to destroy me. But I refused to let that happen. I wouldn't allow them to drag me out while I could still fight with every breath.

It was time to show my powers, I presumed. Energy unfurled inside of me, and I felt its embrace as the spells from the book swirled in front of my eyes.

"Beg, or you shall die!" I commanded although I had no intention of sparing them even if they begged.

With a snap of my finger, I tugged the leader towards me. He tried to resist, but I pressed down on his neck with my mind, choking him.

"We'll never beg a mere child!" he gasped, gripping his neck.

I tilted my head and snarled, "A mere child?"
