CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE - SMELL OF BLOOD

I don't know how much time had passed when I lifted my head from the cold cell floor. My eyes felt heavy and my body felt numb as I realized I was still transformed. Luckily or unluckily, my wolf's thick fur was what protected me from the sharp cold.

The small barred window at the top of the cell now looked wide open. The wind was strong and had moved her even more. The handful of snow in my paws said enough. It was a heavy snowfall.

My body shook. From cold and maybe some reaction from the tranquilizer they threw at me. For the second time. Two darts before my muscles refused to move. And now they still looked too saggy for me to gain a footing. I had to get up. Move before I freeze.

My breath was minuscule. My reflexes were still compromised and it wasn't even getting me desperate enough. Even when I remembered that it must be dusk. And the time limit that Bruce warned was running out.
