22 Stupid question

Dahlia's POV

'It's okay Dahlia, you didn't speak out of place, just take some deep breaths.'

'I never should have asked to call my mother, that was such a stupid question!'

I yelled more at myself than anything else. Anger seeped through me as I thought back to asking that one question, one that was just enough to help root that seed of doubt he already holds when it comes to me.

Maybe he will see it as a child just wanting their mother. Highly doubtful though.

Now I am standing in this damn bathroom, staring at myself in the mirror. My eyes looked dull, as if they were lacking their usual vibrancy. Almost the way they would look after being down in my other room for a week or two.

Yet I haven't been deprived of anything that last day. They have fed me, I've had the sun on my face, and slept well. Actually, now that I'm thinking of that, I slept better than I ever had before. When I finally fell asleep I slept hard. No nightmares plagued me for a change, I felt refreshed instead of o
