“After everything that I did for her!” I scowl at Callie as she quietly closes the door. “She dared to call me a bitch.”

“You need to chill, Lilah. The Alpha said you need to rest. This is not resting. Now park your butt on the bed!”

“I just don’t get it. I’ve tried and I’ve tried.”

“Exactly. You can’t do anymore, Lilah. It’s on her and my brother. They need to figure this out. Not you.”

“Do you think they will?” I give in and reluctantly sit on the edge of the bed.

“There has to be someone else that has done it!”

“I mean, there might be. The Alpha didn’t know of Daphne’s existence. But she wasn't born as part of a mate bond.”

“Will you help me?” I ask

She eyes me suspiciously and shakes her head. “Any other time, I would. You know that. But you have just lost three pups. You can’t risk losing a fourth. Whatever it is can wait.”
