Chapter Twenty-Four - Connecting with him

Lena’s POV:

I got up and walked out to the living room to find Zephyrus sprawled on the floor. He was wide awake, staring at the ceiling with a melancholic look on his face. At that point, I felt guilty for driving him away.

He focused his eyes on me the moment I took a step towards him. Strangely, he didn’t say a word, waiting for me to speak. It was the most awkward situation in my life, and shyness gripped me hard. I opened my mouth, but no words came out. I tried again. With his piercing gaze watching every move of mine, I faltered, acutely conscious of myself.

I took a deep breath.

‘Try to look unaffected, Lena. You can’t afford to encourage him and get knocked up now,’ prodded my inner mind. Yes, that was the last thing on my mind. I couldn’t handle a pregnancy!

“You can come back to the bed if you wish to rescue your twin tomorrow.” He raised an eyebrow at me in disbelief.
