Letitia closed the door of the conference room behind her and said to Monica, "Now you can speak."

Monica pulled out a chair at random and sat down in it in a dismayed manner.

Her face was haggard, she had obviously not rested for a long time, and she spoke in a weak, feeble voice:

"The lobby manager was a friend of mine, and after I drugged Samuel, I asked him to get me a superior suite.

I was afraid that if Samuel stayed in the corridor too long he would attract attention, so I asked my friend to just put him in his room first, but when I came back he was gone."

Letitia, who was not fit to stand for long, sat down in her office chair as well.

As she sat, her wide dress covered her protruding belly so much that you couldn't tell she was more than five months pregnant without looking closely.

She looked solemn and ordered in a cold, hard tone, "Go on."
