Chapter 2

Nathan has taken the first flight home and has called his friend to pick him up from the airport, he has also informed his twin sister Natalie not to worry about flying to the Copperbelt to bail him out coz everything has been taken care of.

Nathaniel is spoiled and arrogant so he knows that no matter the kind of relationship he has with his father Mr Williams, he can never let his son spend the whole night in jail for the sake of his reputation he has to protect as a former Minister of Mines.

Since the time Nathaniel got married 1 month ago, he hasn’t bothered to get to know his wife or allow her in his house so they can start living together and give the Williams an heir, He thinks she’s a gold digger who pretends to be innocent and humble so she can have a piece of the family cake.

A knock on Mr Williams’s study.

“Come in.”

“Good morning Mr Williams and Merry Christmas. please come to the dining room breakfast is saved.”

“Morning Angela, call me dad I’m not a stranger to you okay?”

“Okay Sir.”

“By the way did you prepare my breakfast?”

“Yes I did.”

“Where are the servants? where is Justina my personal maid?”

“Mr… or sorry dad, Justina is not feeling well and since I had nothing to do, I decided to make everyone breakfast.”

“I see, but they are other servants around who can do that you don’t have to do anything alright! you are now a Williams, mother to the future heir of the William’s empire so I want you to start behaving like one, is that understood my child?”

“Yes Dad, thank you sir.”

“Okay I Will be with you in moment.”

“Alright.”

Mr Williams is on phone talking to the inspector general of police his old friend. He’s help helping Nathan stay out of jail but people are starting to notice especially opposition leaders.

“Hello, Good morning General.”

“Morning Honorable, how are you?”

“I’m fine my friend how are you?”

“I’m good. Have you spoken to Nathan?”

“Not yet, Natalie informed me that he’s on his way home, I owe you a drink my friend”

“You owe me more than that.” [both laugh]

“I know, I know.”

“Jackson I will won’t be here always to do you favors you need to sit down your son. And the police officers, My friend they had a lot to say about Nathan. Talk to him all he will embarrass you.”

“I hear you General thank you again. I will sit him down”

“He’s no longer a boy he needs to grow up.”

“ I don’t know what to do with him anymore I have tried everything as a father to the point of getting him a wife but all my efforts are in vain.”

“Threaten to cut him off maybe it might work.”

“I will do as you have advised thank you my friend for getting him out.”

“Welcome. Have a merry Christmas.”

“Merry Christmas to you too, bye”

Its a beautiful Christmas morning and the Williams are having breakfast, everyone is appreciating the food without knowing exactly who prepared it and Anne is the first to comment.

“This year’s Christmas spirit has also touched the food, it’s so delicious, Nat do we have a new chef?”

“ I don’t think so but you are right about the food, it’s like the spirit of the famous chef Antony has entered our chef today, Right babe?”

“Yes my love, I want to shake the chef’s hand for this delicious meal.”

“Well she’s seated right next to you Philip, Angela is our chef this morning.”

Everyone is surprised nobody new Angela can cook worse of like a professional chef but even with this great food, the family will never like her.

“Angela?”

“Yes Natalie, Angela.”

“Well at least something good has come out from this local girl”

“Angela have some respect she’s your brother’s wife.”

“But darling Natalie is right. I must admit, Angela knows how to cook and I think she should be helping the chef in the kitchen more often instead of just lazing around.”

“Anne, how dare you suggest such a thing? Do you think Angela is your servant?”

“It’s okay dad I don’t mind, i love cooking anyway.”

“Dad? She’s now calling you dad?”

“Shut up Natalie! Angela what did I tell you in the study? Moreover you are leaving with your husband today so if you want to cook, you should be cooking for your husband not for us.”

“What do you mean she’s leaving with our Son? didn’t Nathan say that he’s not ready to start living with her?”

“Please don’t punish our son for my sake.”

“Anne, you call this punishment honestly? Nathan is a man now why can’t you let your son grow some balls for once, enough is enough.”

Nathan enters the house holding a strange woman’s hand smiling.”

“Merry Christmas family!” Dad, mom, I’m so sorry I was supposed to come yesterday but the manager…..”

Nathan is cut shot by his twin sister who is interested in who knowing who the slender beautiful girl he has come with is.

“Nathan who is this lovely girl? Sweetheart please join us for breakfast.”

“Oh! Thank you ” Rebeca smiles.

“Hey sis, she’s Rebeca my future wife.” [chuckles]

Angela is busy having her breakfast without minding what is going on.

“Philip, hi didn’t expect to see you here. Ain’t you supposed to be with your family or something?”

“Don’t be rude Nathan, Philip is welcome here.”

“Yes Mother!”[Smirk] Nathan isn’t Philip’s fun because he doesn’t want to be part of the family business. He thinks Philip is weak and behaves like a girl.

“Brother-in-law, how are you?”

“I’m good Nathan how are you doing”?

“ I’m alright. Dad, Mom, meet Rebeca the love of my life. Rebeca, My family.”

“It’s an honor to meet you all and merry Christmas.”

Angela is now feeling disrespected by Nathan even although he was forced to marry her, the least he can do is to acknowledge her presence and show her some respect as his legal wife.

“Excuse me!”

“Go ahead child, Nathan come with me to the study.”

“But dad, I’m starving and and the food looks delicious can we talk about whatever you want to talk about after breakfast?”

“Damn it Nathaniel! Don’t make me lose my temper!” Mr. Williams is now losing his patience.

“Okay! okay! Dad. come down let’s go and talk, my God don’t die on me.”

“And young lady, I should not find you when I come.”

“Come on Jackson, she’s your son’s visitor.”

“Sweetheart I will be back in a minute.”

Even though Anne is not a fun of Angela, she felt bad for Her as a woman and felt disappointed in her son because that’s not how she raised him. Not only did he disrespect his wife but his father too. How is he going to forgive him for last night when he keeps doing the same things over and over again.

“So Rebeca, who are your parents? where are you from and how long have been seeing my son?”

“Well, mum….”

“Mrs Williams, call me Mrs Williams.”

“Mum come on that’s not necessary”

“Natalie!”

“It’s okay Natalie, well Mrs Williams, my name is Rebeca broom, both my parents are reverends and I have a degree in journalism.”

“Your son and I have been together for two years now and yesterday we were celebrating our anniversary.”

“Look at that mum, she’s perfect for Nathan not only is she educated but she’s also beautiful.”

“Thank you Natalie, you’re beautiful too.”

“Ah..I see, Well Miss broom did your boyfriend tell you that he’s now a married man? The girl that was seated here is his wife, Angela.”

“I know, he told me two weeks ago and his plans of divorcing her soon”

“ Rebeca you are an educated woman, you need to know when a man is selling you stories, moreover what will your parents say when they found out you are dating a married man? What example are you setting for young girls in your church as a reverend’s daughter? “

“Mum please why can’t you let Nathan be with the woman of his choice after all Angel was forced on him.”
