"What?" Danielle felt like she received another blow to her gut when she heard what Mrs. Leith said. "Uncle is in the hospital?" she repeated.

She called James to tell him what happened and to plead that he take her already. But instead, she was met by bad news on his end.

"I'm sorry, Danielle. But don't worry. This has been happening a lot and he always comes out alright," Mrs. Leith encouraged her. "I just hope that this would be the last time. I am hopeful about his condition. I feel like he's near to recovery."

"Can't I talk to him now?" Danielle really wanted to hear her Uncle's voice.

"You can talk to me instead," the older woman replied.

"I need to leave the Del Fierros, Mrs. Leith," her voice turned into soft sobs. "As soon as possible."

"Did anything go wrong, Danielle?"

"Lucas already got hurt. He was shot, I don't know how he was doing right now," she cried. "I'm scared, I don't know what to do. I-"
