CHAPTER EIGHTY-EIGHT

FISHING DAY

Marya slept in Clara's room that night, and they stayed up late watching movies while Clara did her nails. They talked until they fell asleep, as they always did when Clara visited.

"Did you find Otavio strange?" Clara asked her sister-in-law casually.

"I thought he was a bit quiet, and he doesn't look people in the eyes when he talks, does he? But other than that, I thought he was nice. Especially for inviting us to the lake. Why?"

Lying face to face, Marya, wearing a silk cap to protect her hair, looked at her sister-in-law with curiosity.

"Ah, nothing important, I just didn't have a good experience getting to know him, I guess. Not that he treated me badly or anything, but he's kind of anti-social and he's the only one I haven't been able to make a true friendship with here."
