CHAPTER EIGHTY-SEVEN

Clara had regular clients there and had already cut her father's and brothers' hair too.

While attending to Megan in the yard next to the laundry room, she took a few breaks for the girl to drink from her canteen that was always with her, hidden in her bag, backpack, or wherever she put it, and she always sipped on it.

"When are we going to an AA meeting, Megan?" She asked when, for the third time while hydrating her hair, the girl picked up the canteen.

Clara felt the young woman's body stiffen slightly. With her back to her, passing the mask through her hair, Megan cleared her throat and replied, "I know I'm procrastinating, I know I have to go, but I keep making excuses for myself, that's the truth."

Clara had already imagined this, so she brought it up since the girl hadn't mentioned it again. David had already mentioned that he had seen her pouring something into her juice at a dinner she attended.

"What do you think about going tomorrow? Just to see what it's like."
