Twenty: Bailee

BAILEE

By the time I got into the car to end my day, I was hot and sweaty. My hair was sticking to my face, and my shirt was uncomfortably damp from walking the giant bouquets of roses up and down the street, giving them to other businesses.

Twenty-Six.

He had sent me twenty-six bouquets.

One of them was smaller than the others, and it had hurt to see it because I knew he had counted back to the exact day everything had blown up and come to an end…to the day he had shattered my heart.

What should have been a sweet yet over-the-top gesture had turned into another painful reminder of his betrayal.

Getting out of the car at the daycare, I rounded the vehicle and glared at the roses in the passenger seat before grumbling and opening the door.

I still had a few bundles at my office, but I figured it would be a good idea to bring them to the daycare for the teachers to enjoy, too.

“Roses? You hate roses.”

I know it’s all about control for Caleb but he needs to just leave Bailee alone. He faked documents to lie about their child’s parentage so he could have a clean slate. He should go back to his annoying assistant and suck it up that he lost something good.
