Liz POV We pull up to the pack house of the Moonstone Pack. This place holds so many memories of my childhood, both good and bad. It looks the same and different all at the same time. I have only been gone a few short weeks, but everything in my life is different now. The way I see the world is different now. I will never forget my first night in this house. I had just lost my caretaker, Gretchen, and I was scared to be alone. My mother held me all night, assuring me that I would be okay. But it wasn’t my mother that comforted me the most. It was the voice inside my mind. It wasn’t the first time I had heard the voice, but it was definitely the most memorable. The voice whispered in my mind that I was finally home. As I grew older, I learned the voice I heard in my mind was that of my wolf, Majesty. She kept me safe and comfortable during the roughest years of my life. She helped me deal with the bullies in school and helped me feel like less of an outcast. But
Deimos POV Elizabeth’s parents, Osiris and Willow, hold their breath while my anger fills the room. Willow tries to move Elizabeth out of the path of my anger, but Elizabeth refuses to move. She loops her arm within mine and stands proudly at my side. Elizabeth believes me when I say I didn’t try to kill my brother, and that is all that matters. Osiris’s eyes flicker between Elizabeth and me. He is weighing his options. Osiris wants to protect his family, but he knows choosing to battle with me will not be an easy fight. My reputation always precedes me. While I may not be the true Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack, my wolf, Duko, is still a formidable fighter. He has taken down plenty of Alphas with no problem, and I do not fear a fight with Osiris. The only thing holding me back is how it would make Elizabeth feel. “Why don’t we have lunch?” Willow cuts through the tension in the room, but Osiris and I don’t take our eyes off each other. “Daddy,” Elizabeth says softly. “I b
Deimos POV Elizabeth’s shoulders are slumped over in the passenger seat of the car on the way back to the hotel. She is staring out of the window with tears freely flowing down her cheeks. Normally, she tries to be so strong, but not this time. Duko is howling painfully in my mind, begging me to take her sadness away. I keep glancing at her from the corner of my eyes. I want to ask her what was said between her and Osiris, but I don’t know how to approach the conversation. If Elizabeth wanted me to know what was said I am sure she would have told me by now. We pull up to the hotel and I toss my keys to the valet. He tries to open the door to let Elizabeth out, but I growl loudly, and he steps away from the car. I quickly move to the other side of the car, disguising my limp. I open Elizabeth’s door, and she looks up at me. The look on her face breaks me. Her mascara is running down her face, and her lipstick is smeared. She tries to plaster the fake smile she has been
Deimos POV “I want you to mark me,” Elizabeth whispers. My hand freezes inside her panties. She is asking me for the one thing I cannot give her. “You are asking me for something I can’t give you,” I tell her quietly. I try to remove my hand from her panties, but Elizabeth grabs my hand and holds it in place. Her hips wiggle against my fingers, and I have to resist the urge to plunge my fingers into her. “Do you want to mark me?” She asks as she looks up at me through her eyelashes. I open my mouth to lie to her. I want to tell her that I have no intention of ever marking her. But Duko growls in my mind, demanding that I tell her the truth. “I want to mark you,” I answer her honestly. “But now isn’t the time.” Elizabeth wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me in for a kiss. Her tongue swipes against the seam of my lips, demanding entrance. I know what she is doing. Elizabeth is trying to get me caught up in the moment in hopes that Duko will
Liz POV I fell asleep in the comfort of Deimos’s arms last night. After I confessed that I loved him, I expected him to make love to me again, but he didn’t. Instead, he stripped us both down to our underwear and led me to the bed. He wrapped me in his arms and fell asleep quickly. But I didn’t fall asleep as quickly. I laid in bed and worried about what my father said. He warned me that Deimos was evil and that he couldn’t be trusted. He believed everything that Nico said and made it clear that he would never support Deimos as an Alpha. Nothing I said could make him change his mind. Finally, I blurted out that I loved Deimos. My father called me a fool. Told me that Deimos was just using me for sex. That is when I stormed out of the kitchen with tears flowing down my cheeks. My father has never spoken to me that way before. He has never been disappointed in me before. It hurt, but it hurt more to think about not being with Deimos. With tears streaming down my face,
Liz POV My whole body is trembling with excitement as I wait for Deimos to thrust into me again. Wrapping one of my legs over his arm, he pins it up by my side. But instead of pounding into me, he eases his way deeper. He waits while I wiggle my hips, trying to adjust to the fullness. “Are you okay?” He asks me gently. “Yes,” I moan. Deimos starts to move again. Slowly, at first, but with each thrust of his hips, he moves faster and harder. The sting of pain that I felt at first soon subsides, and pleasure takes its place. I struggle to keep up with his pace. Deimos isn’t giving me a moment to catch my breath. Tingles are spreading throughout my body like I have never felt before. Pressure is building in my core, and I am desperate for release. “Deimos,” I moan his name. His lips capture mine, and his tongue forces its way into my mouth. He groans into my mouth as his tongue swipes against mine. Pulling away from the kiss, Deimos grabs my bottom lip between hi
Liz POV Stella and Isaiah are waiting for us in the hotel lobby. Becky is behind the receptionist's desk with a very sour look on her face. She always had a thing for Isaiah in school. It was one of the reasons she hated me and tormented me so much. For once, she isn’t glaring in my direction. She is looking at Stella with pure disdain. Stella doesn’t seem to notice Becky’s presence. All of her attention is focused on Isaiah. Per usual, Stella is dressed to impress. She has on a short black dress that showcases her long legs. Her lips are painted bright red, accentuating her full pout. Isaiah is wearing jeans and a button-up shirt. He has his arm wrapped around Stella, and he keeps leaning in to smell her hair. A smile pulls at the corners of my lips when I see them together. I am happy Isaiah found his mate. Deimos clears his throat, and Isaiah pulls away from Stella. His whole demeanor changes. Isaiah is terrified of Deimos. Stella scowls at her brother and
Liz POV The car’s tires rumble on the gravel of the pack house driveway, and it awakes me from my sleep. My head bounces uncomfortably on the car’s window. I must have slept the whole ride back to the Dark Moon Pack. Night has already fallen. The pack house is dark except for the front porch. Two dark figures are waiting on the porch for us to arrive. I don’t have to squint through the darkness to know it is Nico and Damon waiting for me. Deimos gets out of the car and limps toward the pack house with his cane. I haven’t seen him use it since we left. I watch him curiously, wondering how much his limp is an act he puts on for his family. The driver opens my car door, and I step out into the cool night air. Deimos doesn’t spare me a second glance as he walks into the pack house. I try to remember that it is all an act, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. I walk up the porch stairs and nod politely to Nico before making my way inside. But Damon steps in my way. “J
