CHAPTER 5: We are no longer kids

"Hey Sam, good morning." Eleanor greeted as she hugged him affectionately.

"Good morning sweetheart, hope you slept well?" Sam said as they disengaged from their warm embrace.

"I did thanks, last night was amazing." Eleanor said.

Natalie came right at this moment,

'What does she mean by last night was amazing? Did they do more than they should? Calm down don't assume things, Sam may see right through you.' Natalie thought.

"Hey Sam..." Natalie said.

"Hey Natalie, how are you doing today?" Sam asked.

"I am very fine." Natalie replied smiling.

"Hi Natalie." Eleanor said.

"Hi Eleanor, can I talk to Sam for a while?" Natalie said

"Sure, you can... See you after music class." Eleanor whispered into Sam's ears.

And then left hurriedly, she was getting pretty late for class.

"Come on, what is it Natalie?" Sam asked.

"Are we still on for later?" Natalie asked

"Of course we are. We will be going to our favorite park later immediately after school." Sam said

"Immediately after school, I thought it was tonight, so why change plans?" Natalie asked.

"I was hoping Eleanor and I will do movie night." Sam replied.

'Really? Even on my day she gets half of it? Am I really nothing to Sam now? I was his closest and only childhood friend the one he always spends time with, and now this Eleanor comes into his life and I am sidelined? I won't let this continue.' Natalie thought

"Alright see you after school." Natalie said feigning a smile.

After school, Sam went to look for Eleanor at her usual spot in the library.

"Hey!!" He whispered into her ears and they both left the library outside, so they won't disturb others while they talk.

"Sam how was class today, what's up?" Eleanor asked.

"Elle, I will be going out with Natalie but later tonight it's movie night will you be free? I'll come pick you up and we'll go watch the latest play in town so keep your mind prepared, its more of a tragedy romance movie." Sam conveyed.

"Tragedy? I don't like sad endings, I might tear up." Eleanor replied.

"That's why I will be by your side wiping out your tears, come on are you in? Say yes please..." Sam said.

"Um... well, mum will be going out later, after that you can come pick me up, is that okay?" Eleanor said after much persuasion from Sam.

"That would be best." Sam agreed quickly smiling.

His phone began ringing, it was Natalie he picked up and said,

"Hey, Natalie, are you done with class?"

"Yeah, I am waiting for you at the car park." Natalie replied.

"Alright, I'll be right there." He hangs up and said to Eleanor.

"Sweetheart, see you later." and kisses her on the lips

And quickly ran off, while Eleanor stood there blushing.

AT THE PARK

"Sam, let's go into the ferry wheel like we used to when we were kids." Nathalie said.

"But we are no longer kids Nat, we are adults now."

"But that's what I want to do..." Natalie said pouting.

Not wanting to see his best friend cry and upset he then said,

"Okay Nathalie, but it's almost time for the movie I already bought tickets."

"So you're really going to leave me, fine then just one more ride please." Nathalie said with a pout.

"Okay fine, one more ride it is." Sam said .

"Yes!!!" Nathalie exclaimed and held his hands.

Sam kept checking his wristwatch this made Nathalie angry and jealous. After the ride Sam said,

"Nathalie can you please ask your driver to come pick you up? I am kinda late for the movie and I still have to pick Eleanor up so we can go together."

'I can't believe he is going to leave me here for her again but I can't look angry he might get suspicious and find out I am hiding something from him and I don't want that.' Nathalie thought and said,

"Okay I'll ask him to come pick me up."

"Oh you are a lifesaver, thanks, see you on Monday." Sam said.

"Will you be busy tomorrow? It is Sunday can't you at least come visit me and my mom, it's been a while since you last visited." Natalie said

"I don't think I can come over, I have a study date with Eleanor." Sam said and this pissed Nathalie off.

"Okay good bye see you on Monday." Nathalie said.

When Sam left she couldn't help but break down in tears.

Unknown to her, her driver Mr Carlos was watching her from afar just like he was ordered to earlier today.

After crying her eyes out she picked up her phone to call her driver, as soon as it got connected she said,

"Hello Mr Carlos..."

"Miss Nathalie is there anything you need?" He asked.

"I am at the park, come pick me up... you know where I am right?" She said with a croaky voice.

"Yes miss Natalie, dream park right?" Carlos asked like he wasn't close to where she was at the moment

"Yes..." Nathalie answered her voice a bit shaky.

"Are you okay miss?" Carlos asked.

"I'm fine." Nathalie said abruptly and then disconnected the call.

Carlos then dialed Magdalene's number immediately, she picked up only after two beeps.

"Good evening ma'am Magdalene."

"Evening Mr Carlos is there anything you would like to say?" Magdalene asked.

"It's your daughter ma'am she is crying." Mr Carlos said.

"What!!! Who the hell would make her cry?" Magdalene asked.

"I think it's a boy, that Sam Wyatt who used to visit." Carlos said.

"Sam? Okay thank you Carlos bring her home." Magdalene said.

"Okay ma'am." Carlos said and Magdalene hung up.

'Why on earth is Nathalie crying over Sam? Oh that silly girl she could have just told me what's going on with her. Lord so help her if she even thinks of lying to me again, when she gets home.' Magdalene thought.

"Miss its time to go home." Carlos said and immediately Natalie ran inside the car so as not to be seen with tears.

Immediately she entered into the car she placed her palm on her face to cover it.

While on her way home she tried so hard to hide and clean off her tears but then her eyes were swollen, there was no way her mum wouldn't notice.

Nathalie finally arrived home with puffy eyes, she knew deep down she couldn't possibly lie this time even if she wanted to.

Her facial appearance already betrayed her, there was no need to prolong this any longer than she should. It was high time she told her mom everything, she needed her help.
