Helen's POV

"Today was really fun," Lucas said. "We should do this again, What do you say?"

Darting him a small smile, I nodded, even though the voice in my head screamed "no."

"Yeah, we really should. Plus the muffins were really good."

"Tell me about it," He uttered, and I smiled again as I fiddled with my hands.

Quietness reigned between us for a split second before Lucas suddenly leaned in, and made to kiss me on the lips, but thankfully, I managed to stylishly duck it, and he didn't force it.

He just nodded to nothing and slotted his hands into his pockets.

"I'm sorry about that." He apologized. "You are just too gorgeous and I can't help myself whenever I'm around you."

"It's fine," I fibbed. "Let's just take everything step by step, okay?"

"Okay," He nodded. "But can I at least give you a hug?"

Against my inner voice's defiance, I nodded, smiling through my teeth. "Sure."

I remained stiff like a statue as he enveloped me with his arms, and I got a whiff of his spicy cologne.
