Chapter 26 – Maeve's style of revenge

There was already a pool of tears in Samantha’s eyes, and she was shivering from fear from the way Gabriel gawked at her. It was as if he was seeing a rare kind of dangerous animal. Perhaps she should have remained faithful to him for the trust he had for her.

All along, she thought that Gabriel did not care about her but was just realizing that he trusted her too much and did not deserve this betrayal. His relationship with her was formal, but in that formality, he would have stood by her.

Samantha was fidgeting with her fingers while her pool of tears fell. She pleaded earnestly, “I didn’t want to do it because I loved you, but you never looked at me. It was always her,” Samantha glared at Maeve, who had a sweet smile on her face. Then Maeve’s words in the kitchen from last week rang in her ears,

“You won’t know what’s coming before it hits you.”
