Chapter 26

Mom held onto me tightly as we were about to leave. I didn't want to leave her side either, but I had no choice. I cried incessantly as we got into the car. I hoped Mom would listen to me and just leave and go back to Cavite. I didn't want Rodrigo to know that I saw Mom.

I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. I looked at Bruno, who was driving silently in front.

"Can you not take me back to the mansion for now?" I asked. Bruno glanced at me through the rearview mirror.

"Are you hungry? We can stop by a restaurant," he said.

I sighed and looked outside. I had no appetite. I couldn't even remember the last time I ate, but even now, I didn't feel hungry. It was as if my body had given up on me because of everything that had happened.

"Do you have anywhere else you want to go?" Bruno asked again.

"Is there anywhere else I can go? There's none, right? Your master knows every move I make. So can you just not talk to me?" I said lifelessly. Bruno didn't respond either, so I focu
