CHAPTER 36: DISAPPOINTMENT AT HEART

She cared for me as one would a child - sweetly, yet with a touch of sternness. I found myself drawn to this dynamic.

"Does it hurt?" She inquired, her fingers gently tracing the bruise that had blossomed on the side of my lips.

Her hand floated up to cradle my face.

A wave of drowsiness washed over me as her palm made contact with my skin. Dam this woman, she had a way of making me feel like a pussy, but I like the way she makes me soft. She was slowly becoming my weakness, and I am fully aware of it.

I reveled in the attention she showered on me, it was a craving I didn't know I had. The care she extended when I was hurt, the worry etched on her face - it all signaled that she truly cared for me.

"We should probably get that checked," she suggested, her gaze fixated on my lip.

My father still got the strength, but I felt the blows he landed on me last night were more forceful than usual.
