Chapter 33- Jake pays visit to his parents

Jake parked the car he rented outside of his parent's home. He didn’t get out right away, just sat there staring at their house. Anastasia sat quietly beside him, knowing he had to be the one to make the first move. She glanced over at him and saw pain and regret written all over his face, it pained her to see him this way.

Moments later he took a hold of her hand and bringing it to his lips kissed it. “Thanks for giving me time, I’m ready now.”

When they got to the door he took one more look at her, seeing her reassuring smile he knocked a couple of times and stood back. She kept her arm around his while they waited.

“No one is home, let’s just go.”

“Knock again,” she said, nodding her head.

He knocked two more times and just then the door opened. There was nothing he could do but stand frozen as he and the elderly man stared at each other. It was only when she cleared her throat that he snapped out of his trance.
