Chapter One hundred and seventy four

AMELIA’s POV…

I gasped as I got off the floor, rushing to where the portal was closing, but before I could get to it, Alaric grabbed me as he pulled me back, covering my eyes as tears streamed down my cheeks.

“What do you think you’re doing?” He asked me as I struggled to get away from him.

“Alex was taken through there. We have to get him back.” I said as I struggled to get free, tears streaming down my cheeks.

“You can’t, Amelia. That’s a portal. You don’t know what lies at the other end of it. You…..”

I kept struggling to get free as he held on tighter to me, pulling me back and I couldn’t control the tears as I hit his hand, trying to get him off, but he didn’t budge.

“Let go of me. I have to save him.” I cried; and finally, he took his hand off my eyes, but by the time he had done that, there was no sign of Alex anymore, neither was there any sign of the portal.

Alex was gone, and he had been taken through the portal to wherever they had taken him to.

I fell to my knees as tears
