His lustful Obsession

Chapter 4

Maureen's POV

The media that surrounded the entire room all had eyes on King and the lady beside him. They were confident and they looked like a power pact couple. The perfect couple. One that I had always wanted for me and Adrain. It made me upset.

I released my fist and stared at my palms which had turned red. They were hurting but there was visible injury. Adrian was only a few steps away from me. While King and that woman enjoyed the media's attention I chose to go to my man.

It did not take long and I was standing in front of him. “What is the meaning of this?” I asked, my face showcasing the anger I had

“What do you mean?” Adrian asked, taking only a single glance at me before looking past me

“King George” I spoke with gritted teeth “Why would you invite him? You never told me you two made amends. And why anyway? He is not to be trusted and…”

I stopped talking when I noticed Adrain was not listening to me. He had his eyes solely on the couple that was taking everyone's attention. The media was still taking their pictures. The lady had a smile on her face and so did King with his hand around the lady's thin waist.

She was beautiful no doubt. I glanced at Adrain who has since not taken his eyes off them as he sipped his wine. I knew he was upset with what was happening. Not because King was taking the attention but because of the way he held the lady.

I have been with Adrian long enough to know when he was jealous of something. He had that same gaze when other guys touched me some months ago and now, someone else was getting that treatment. “Adrain” I called, pulling his arm but he did not even look at me

It was as though after the first glance at me he had enough of my face. I was still trying to gain his attention when I noticed King and his lady approaching us. Without bothering to ask Adrian, I wrapped my hand around his arm. Even at that, not a single glance came from him to me.

His eyes were practically glued to the lady beside King. My blood kept boiling, staring at the lady myself. She was elegant and beautiful and she could so easily get Adrain's attention. It made me infuriated. It made me want to pounce and rip her open but I kept it together as they approached, a smile on my face for the cameras.

“Lovely inviting us for such a beautiful party, Adrian” King said the moment he got to us with the lady's hand around his arm just like mine around Adrain's arm

“Why not? We are now business partners” Adrian spoke but his eyes were still glued on the lady and would briefly glance at King

“Who is this, King? I've never seen her with you before” I pitched in

“Shekinah” was all King said

“Are you two in a relationship?” I asked, not able to bite my tongue “Asking out of curiosity as I was expecting the news of you two dating to fly around in minutes”

King said nothing and instead grabbed a drink from a walking waiter. Shekinah smiled. “Don’t mind King. We aren't dating. I'm only an escort for the night. And even if we are, why would we want to tell the entire city about it? Approvals from the general public all the time render you weak. That's an inferior mindset if you ask me”

I had no idea what to say to her. She spoke fluently and well that if people listened they would think she was complimenting me. “Let me introduce you to someone,” King said to Shekinah before they walked away

I turned to Adrian who was still staring at Shekinah not even caring about how I felt after Shekinah just insulted me. I wanted to walk off. Show him I was upset but would that work?  I again took my eyes to my fiance and to the lady who smiled as she spoke. She was chatting with one of our esteemed guests with King standing at the side, saying one or two in favour of what she was saying.

“Fuck!” I screamed in my head with my eyes closed

I needed to put myself together. She was so effortlessly getting everyone's attention even Adrian and here I was beside him and he acted like he didn't see me. I stood where I was watching Shekinah's every move. I knew they were not sleeping with each other yet because she looked fierce and different.

I could already guess it was that difference making Adrain behave the way he was. He was always one to love understanding and getting anything that looked and acted differently. I loved that side of him. That was what brought us together in the first place but now, this was happening and I hated it.

I stood for a while watching Shekinah but I had to move around eventually. She was not the only one who needed to socialize. I socialized but I made sure to keep my eyes on her. After two hours of talking and watching, I can say one thing for sure, Shekinah was perfect.

A little too perfect.

With that thought, I walked to where Adrian was. He was chatting with someone but his eyes were still on Shekinah. I excused myself and brought my lips closer to his ear.

“Tread carefully” I warned, “You might be fascinated by her now but she is not here for good. She is too perfect. Something is wrong. I will find out what but be careful. She could kill you”

I gave him a kiss, and stepped back from him but staring at Adrian's face, it felt like I just spoke to a brick wall. His nonchalant infuriated me so much.
