CHAPTER FOUR: …how ruthless the boss can be.

HOPE

I stood there staring at him with so much contempt. I wished I could report him and the master for their crimes. I wasn’t an object; none of us at the master’s house were objects or goods that should be exchanged between rich criminals.

I used to dream about working at the Mason enterprise. But just a few days ago I got to discover that the image he displayed to the public was just a shadow of his true form. He was a criminal and anyone associated with the master were all criminals as well.

“I can see the anger burning through your eyes. How was it though? That feeling you got when you ran for hours thinking that you could escape from me?” he stared at me expecting an answer.

What was he trying to do? He was provoking me on purpose. I instinctively squeezed my hand so tightly around my dress to prevent me from hitting him so hard.

“You should be the one telling me how fun it was for. How was it? How did you feel watching me run aimlessly knowing fully well that I wasn’t going to escape? You’re a sick bastard and no matter how you try to hide it, it would be just a matter of time before the world figures out how bad you’re.” I managed to say through my gritted teeth.

“And how are they supposed to do that? Are you going to tell them about the master?” he laughed. “I bet you enjoyed playing dress up with him, praying that a charming somebody would notice you. After several attempts and no one picked you, how did you feel? Were you desperate?” he chuckled.

He knew. He knew everything about my stay with the master. He knew me longer than I thought. What did Ace want with me?

“What do you want from me?” I finally asked him.

“Everything you can offer,” he said walking towards the walk in closet

“And why should I offer you anything I have?”

“You will feel much better when you do it yourself. I can take anything I want from you without your permission. But I’m giving you the chance to do it at your will,” he said and walked into a room I was guessing that it was the walk in closet room.

He was right. He bought me and technically he had the right to do anything with me.

He soon walked out with a big bath robe in his hands.

“You’re mine Hope, and the earlier you realized that the better for you.” He walked very close to me and I instinctively took some steps backwards. “Your room is two doors away from this one,” he explained.

“You’re sending me away so soon,” I said staring at him in the eyes

“Well, you’re free to spend the night with me. I’m sure it would be more fun in here than the masters club.” He gave me a weird look before he walked passed me, not without his lower arm brushing my shoulders subtly. Was that little contact necessary? I wondered as he passed. I knew it would likely be a mistake but it still bothered me more than I wanted it to.

“Close the door behind you when you leave,” I swear I saw a smirk on his lips before he turned away.

A few minutes after my bathe, I dressed up and went to one of the warehouses to attend a meeting with Rob. Everyone seemed to have forgotten who the boss was and I needed to engrave it in their memories again.

I lifted the aluminum door blocking the entrance and entered inside the dark space awaiting my arrival. After walking through the passages of cartons of goods and nothings I came to a stop in front of an iron barred elevator. I entered the pass code of the lock and it chimed while sliding open for me to step in and it closed again and started moving down automatically.

I stepped out of the elevator and walked inside a dimly lit room and spotted a shirtless Rob by the other end. He had a huge spanner which was covered in blood in his hands. I looked by the other side and saw a man tied to chair with blood all over his body. He looked parched and tired.

“Boss,” Rob and the other three men in the room acknowledged me as I entered.

“He’s not talking yet?” I asked and collected the spanner from Rob as he shook his head and mouthed no to my question.

I moved to the side of the wall with several tools and gadgets hanging in display and placed the spanner back there before turning to the man who was tied up to a chair.

“When you came to me with swollen eyes, begging for money to save your wife, what did I tell you?” I paused despite knowing that he wasn’t going to respond. “Did Rob tell you that I’m very specific when it comes to my rest and sleeping time?” I squatted down and pressed the fresh wound on his thigh, making him scream.

“Please stop,” he begged. “I have nothing to say. I didn’t betray the Cosa Nostra, from the moment you helped me to save my dying wife, my unwavering allegiance has always been yours.”

He thinks I’m joke

I pulled out the pistol behind my trousers and fixed the silencer.

“I waited for you to come clean and you just blew up your last chance. Tell me! Who sent you to get information about my family?” I shot his kneecap and he only screamed without saying a word.

“I will ask again Martin, why and who send you to my family?” I pointed the gun to his shoulder blade and pulled the trigger. “The more you waste my time the worst it’s going to be for you. You should have spilled your guts when I wasn’t here.”

“I’m going to die anyway, so what’s the point in saying anything to you piss of shit!” he spat on my face.

“I should have shot your tongue first if not that you have very important information for me.” I wiped the spit and smirked at him. “I’m going to find your wife and children and I’m going to look after them for you when you go to hell. You lied to me!” I raised my voice

“W...what.” his voice was shaky. He realized that I knew the truth. His wife wasn’t sick and the story he told me was a ploy to get into the family. I knew he was lying though. His betrayal was an advantage to me and the business.

“Don’t lay your hands on them,” he said looking at me with rage.

I shot his second shoulder and the other knee and aimed the gun at his balls.

“FBI! They sent me. I was approached by one of them two months ago and he convinced me to do it. They told me that there was a way to get me out of the Cosa Nostra and keep my family safe when I’m done with my mission…” he continued talking and saying everything I needed to hear.

“That wasn’t so hard was it?” I asked rubbing his cheek with the mouth of the smoking hot gun. “I had six bullets in here and guess what? I was going to empty them on you but you just saved yourself from one bullet.”

He looked at me in dismay. “I told you everything!” he screamed.

“No one betrays the Cosa Nostra and live to tell the tale. Your wife and children will be fine, that’s my forgiveness for you,” I released one more shot on his forehead at a very close range and it hit him hard blasting his head on the seat.

“Shit, my shirt got messy” I whispered before one of the men came to me with a towel in hand.

“We have spare shirt for you in the dressing room upstairs, boss.” He informed me.

“I knew you would get him to talk in no time,” Rob said and turned to the men, “let’s get this mess cleaned up.

“Sometimes I forget how ruthless the boss can be” I heard one them whisper as the elevator moved up.
