CHAPTER THREE: sick bastard

ACE

I was so pissed off. I gave bob a task to bring the girl back to the mansion before dawn but he couldn’t do it properly. Whether he carried out my order directly wasn’t my concern and all I needed was for it to get done properly and he failed. One the guys gave her a concussion and the unlucky one was standing before me.

I don’t just let anyone into the family and I had never crossed part with the one standing in front of me. There was only one person who could have done that and that was bob. He brought someone who couldn’t follow instructions and obey orders from the boss. She deserved to be cut off in every aspect… he deserved to be killed. The secrets of my family stay in the family but he wasn’t going to be a part of it in a few seconds.

“Do you know what happens to people who don’t follow and obey orders?” I asked him but he just fidgeted in front of me without saying anything. “You’re doing it again.” I said as I moved behind him. “You’re a slow learner. If I ask you a question you simply answer it with me saying it for the second time.”

“Wh... what’s the question boss?”

“The question is that you’re out.” I moved to stand in front of him, “I don’t play with the matters of my family and obedience is number here. You lack every basic quality that should keep you here. You can leave; bob will take care of you later,”

I turned to face bob who was just staring out of the window as it wasn’t his mess that I was trying to wipe.

“Bob,” I was sure he wasn’t expecting my next move as I moved towards him and gave him a strong punch on the jaw.

“Fuck! That was painful,” he said inspecting his bruised jaw with his tongue and hand.

“Of course it should be painful. Do you know what you just made me do? That guy I sent away should be dead! He knows too much about this family but his offense is too little to warrant death. Tell, what should I do?”

“I’m sorry Ace. I didn’t know he was going to knock her out,” bob tried to explain but the only thing I wanted to do was throw him another punch.

“Do think that it’s only the girl that matters? Why am I just getting to meet him? You brought him too deep into this family and you made him part of my men without my consent and he’s not worth it.”

“He’s important Ace. I’m not stupid and I don’t just let anyone in here.”

“Why should I believe you?” I raised a brow at him.

“I will prove it. He’s something that we need. I’m sure he isn’t up to your standard boss but trust me, I’m going to prove his usefulness to you.”

“I don’t want to see him again ace. If he’s useful, use him from the outside. I don’t want him too deep into the business because I will kill you both if he’s a snitch” I gave him stern warning before walking over to sit on the chair behind the mahogany table in the large off.

“Yes, boss.” Bob moved to the door and stopped halfway. “Your punch has gotten stronger,” he said and I knew where he was heading with the little remark he made.

“Of course it has. Get out of my off.”

That girl was my investment. I spent billions of dollars on her head and I wasn’t going to let anyone mess with her.

I picked up one of the documents on my desk and started brushing through it. I had to rush off to the company after calling the doctor to look after the girl. I was focusing too much on the Cosa Nostra and my work at the mason enterprise was heaping up.

HOPE

I slowly opened my eyes and discovered that was in a comfortable bed. I felt the soft pillows behind my head and the fluffiness of the duvet and I immediately knew that it wasn’t the previous room they assigned to me. I frowned my face after my discovery and fully opened my, while inspecting the room I noticed a brighter light on at the other end of the room.

It was him… my new master.

“Hey,” I squeaked like a duck as a walked towards him. Sleep got the better of me, because what was a ‘hey’? To the man that could literally murder me and throw my body in a ditch somewhere and nobody would care.

“Hey too, sleepyhead.” He responded closing the laptop he was working on. “How’s your head? I called the doctor to look at it earlier this morning,”

What? He called a doctor for someone he bought at an auction.

I think he noticed the surprise in from the way I looked at him and explained further.

“I spent billions on your head and having your concussion treated, was just like those unexpected expenses that occurs in business.”

“Oh that’s more like it,” I said masking the hurt in my voice. I was just a person he bought. I almost forgot because of how nice he had been to me.

“My name is Ace, the CEO of the Mason enterprise.” He said standing from the swivel chair. “We finally met properly after three encounters,”

I knew who he was and everyone in the city knew him. The Mason enterprise was a multi billionaire conglomerate and it had other subsidiaries running nationwide. The mason electronics, Construction Company, mason flight, hotels, mason motors and so on. The enterprise had existed through generations and currently after the death of Ace’s father, Ace became the head and had been looking after everything a long side his brother in the shadows.

I always wondered what was behind the big name and finally it was finally starting to make sense, the masons ran other shady businesses behind closed doors. What's with the guns and men dressed in black in every nook and cranny of the mansion?

“My name is hope,” I said despite being so sure that he knew that already.

He was a fine man. I looked at him as he just stood there watching me like a soccer game. He was checking to see if I would squirm under his gaze. I wasn’t going to flinch, he may have paid for me but I wasn’t going to surrender my free will that easily.

He chuckled before plastering a smirk on his beautiful lips and said, “I like hope. That is a nice name for a fire ball like you.”

I didn’t say anything to him.

“How was it?” he asked.

“How was your race?” he said with amusement all over his face

“What?”

“I told them to let you play in the forest for a while before bringing you back to the mansion” his smirk spread across his entire face

“Damn…” I whispered. He got me so good if that was the case.

“Did you say something Hopy?”

“You’re sick,” I blotted. If he was going to kill me later too, the least I could do was say mind. He loved playing games with people.

I’m a gamer myself. I will show him that fire balls burns too.
