Xevia's POV

This place was nothing like the one in my mom's story.

"Why do you look perplexed?" Archer kept an eye on me as he lifted one of his eyebrows.

"Why does this place seem unkempt?" I asked, a bleak emotion making me swallow my tears. Is this how they–the alphas, honor the knights who sacrificed themselves for peace?

This place looks more like an abandoned place than a hero's tomb monument. Some trees were uprooted, and one corner revealed an extreme crack like a massive storm had struck it. Everything seemed destroyed and broken, with mossy gravestones and a garden overgrown with wild grass.

No one was watching over it, only weasels roaming around. It was as if everyone had forgotten this place. No one remembered it anymore, literally no one.

Is death always this sad? Would they forget us when we were already gone? Leaving us in the cold air covered in mud and decomposing animals?
