Loving you is a losing game
‘It’s finally over.’ Carmen thought with her head facing the windshield as she watched other vehicles pass by.
However, her heart still felt heavy and her mind felt drained when negative thoughts began to crowd her head, leaving her too exhausted to cry or think straight, so she closed her eyes and allowed herself to sink into a field of nothingness.
“Does it hurt anywhere?” Dax asked, taking his eyes off the road for a second to stare at her.
“No,” Carmen whispered without raising hereyelids.
Even though she was in pain, it was not the kind of feeling she wanted to explain to Dax since it will only leave him hurt.
Silence fell between them for a moment, then Dax softly sighed and said, “Whatever result we get tomorrow, I hope we can still be friends. You are an amazing woman, Carmen, and I still want to be in your life even if it’s not in a romantic way.”
