Esme's POVI was plunging downwards, surrounded by darkness. It felt like I was trapped in an abyss, sinking deeper and deeper without stopping. It felt peaceful and quiet but lonely at the same time. Ethan's POVI turned to leave but as I did, from the corner of my eyes, I could see Norn smiling sadistically while still in her father's embrace. Our eyes met and she turned away. Esme's POV I tried to get up but it was impossible. The pain that engulfed my entire body was unbearable. I hate being useless like this. Esme's POVIt had been over a week since I woke up. I suffered second degree burns in different parts of my body, my back was mostly affected but they've all healed completely. My ability to heal really quickly stunned the doctor and she said not to worry about the scars because they would smoothen over time. She also provided an ointment made with a rare herb which would help with the discoloration.When I saw the scars in the mirror, it was a big blow to my self esteem. Despite the fact that I was lucky enough that my face was unharmed, I felt ugly because of the way my body looked but Ethan talked me out of it, stating that he didn't care about the scars.He told me that he had just as many scars but I still loved him and so in the same fashion, he would still care for me no matter what I looked like. Ethan and I are friends now, despite the fact that I had to go through hell and high water just to achieve that.
