Chapter 30

Esme's POV

I was plunging downwards, surrounded by darkness. It felt like I was trapped in an abyss, sinking deeper and deeper without stopping. It felt peaceful and quiet but lonely at the same time. I really don't know how long I've been here but it's been serene.

Looking to the top, it seems to be impossibly far away and completely out of my reach but the light it's emitting is completely different from the darkness that had swallowed me whole. It is……fascinating.

But I know the clear difference. I have nothing to do with that part anymore. I'm in the jaws of death and there's so turning back, I'm just glad I got to see Ethan one last time.

I close my eyes and release a breath, submitting myself to the will of the afterlife. I hope this is just a journey and I won't have to be lonely for the rest of eternity, I want to reunite with my parents. I miss them so much and I have a lot to tell them.
