CHAPTER 42: THE MELLON

Wiping my running nose, I sat on the floor and once again hurried my face on my pillows.

Only if I could suffocate myself.

From outside, I can hear Monica's shuffles.

What the hell is she doing in the middle of the night?

Saving myself from stress, I reluctantly hopped out of bed and headed outside.

At the end of the hallway, I saw Monica's figure headed to the stairs.

"Monica?" Following her downstairs, I frowned when the lights stayed off. "Monica?"

Switching the lights on, my frown went deeper when I saw the back door open.

One thing I've learned from Monica is that she never leaves one window open, let alone the back door. The woman is always perturbed about her safety.

"Monica, you out here?" I softly shouted in the backyard.

With the flickering dim lights sending me a signal to close the door, without any ceremony left to wonder, I slammed it close and locked it.

But as I pivoted, I yelled in surprise upon seeing a familiar tall figure of the fantasy world.

Mellon.
