Chapter 37: Family Of Vipers

The scene I saw when I entered the room caused my frowning face to relax and my angry heart to melt. Liam and Grandma were speaking to Grandma J while father was attending to Mother. Now, this is the family that I have come to know and love.

“Anna,” Grandma called weakly but had a smile on her lips. I made my way to her bed, my eyes teary again. I need to stop crying like a baby.

Liam made way for me to get closer to Grandma,

“How are you doing, Grandma?” I asked, my voice hoarse. I was tired, I was weak.

“My dear, Anna,” she called again as she reached for my hand and I held her tightly.

I could have lost them, they could have died from my carelessness. Mother had warned me but I didn't listen, I wanted to prove a point and that would have cost my family's life.

That family was a family of vipers yet I didn't listen. I could now see the reason why Mother didn't want me to live with them and also why she didn't want Father to know of my existence. That was putting my life at risk
