Chap 4: Party

The business party in New York City was held at the city's most opulent Manhattan hotel. Her mother woke Lily up early in the morning to get her ready for the party. Everyone in her immediate vicinity hurried in and exited. Lily yawned tiredly and then ignored everything around her as she closed her eyes and looked in the mirror.

" This is a highly important party. Lily, remember to keep a watchful eye on everyone!"-  Mrs. Taylor expressed her concern in her heart. Lily had been taught etiquette and had attended a few parties before, but they had all been on a small scale. This celebration also serves as a significant opportunity for her to meet Edward's family and announce their engagement. As a result, there can be no errors.

" I'm aware!"- Her mother was concerned, and rightly so. After all, she'd never been to a party quite like this. She would betray her parents and brother if she made a mistake. She couldn't help but give it her all, even if she didn't take the celebration seriously.

" Lily, do you think Venn is a kind guy or a jerk- Venn Edward, her future husband, is the one mother mentioned. Mom's question is like putting her down, she and Venn haven't even spoken a few words how do she know what kind of guy he is?

" Mom, I've only met Venn a handful of times, how can I tell what kind of person he is?"

" That's correct, Lily, Venn will also be attending this party, and if possible, you'll have more opportunities to engage with him! Anyway, the two of them are about to get engaged, so living together will be simpler when they've developed a little love!"

"I know!"- Lily became uncomfortable all over again when she said Venn. Perhaps it's because of his regal upbringing that his aura always makes others fearful. She'd only been standing next to him for a few seconds when she began to feel uneasy. They are each other's future husband and wife, but their gap is comparable to that of strangers. She is also concerned about her future, unsure of how she will be able to live in the future. Venn's father is the mayor of the city, his mother is a noble woman, and he is a wealthy young businessman; Lily believes it will be impossible to live with such a smart person. This marriage has already seen the difference, how can she be happy and not worry.

The party started at 7 p.m. local time, and the hotel lobby was quite crowded when Lily arrived. She stepped out of her brother's luxurious automobile wearing the crimson outfit her mother had chosen for her. All eyes were on her from the moment she walked into the hotel foyer. Lily was aware, not because of her beauty, but because of her unique status as the finance of the party's host.

" Relax and don't be too tense!"- Elmer rubbed his sister on the back to soothe her; after all, with such a terrifying sight, how could a young girl like Lily not be terrified?

Lily smiled, attempting to project as much confidence as she could. Parents were the first to be let inside, and now there are only young people like them outside. Lily lowered her head in bewilderment as she observed the young females standing in groups here. In the upper class, young ladies playing together in groups had become the norm. She arrived too late in this world, so she could only stare at people alone. Furthermore, many people are concerned about her background; because of her blood superiority, the other girls are unwilling to lower themselves to be friends with her.

" Keep yourself occupied. I'll take care of myself!"- She hurriedly pushed her brother to go after seeing him standing by her side, watching her but unable to do anything. Elmer wasn't comfortable asking her a few times, so he advised her to be cautious before approaching her pals. Lily took a deep breath and carried her skirt to the swimming pool to enjoy the scenery while waiting for her brother to go.

When Lily heard a disturbance, she was staring blankly at the lake. When she looked back, she noticed a red figure approaching her side. If it weren't for her eyes, the other party's attire would have appeared to be identical to the one she was wearing. Lady Clara, the person she is most terrified of, is the one who is wearing it.

" What a coincidence, Lily! We were made for each other!"- Clara took a step forward and whispered something to her. As soon as she finished speaking, the conversation got more focused, drawing the attention of the males in the distance. Everyone mocked her, as though she was attempting to emulate her. Clara and her had only met at parties before, but she seemed to have a vendetta against her for some reason, and Lily felt that she was a thorn in the side of all the females here. They were always looking for an excuse to make fun of her.

" What a coincidence, I wasn't expecting to be able to meet her here! Furthermore, we... "- When Lily glanced at Clara's garment, she wondered if she thought it was so unpopular that it was so easily touched.

" The store clerk informed me that this dress was created in restricted quantities, so Lily must have put in a lot of effort as well? But, on the other hand, you needed to appear flawless at this gathering."

Lily was afraid that if she remained silent any longer, everyone at the party would laugh at her. So Lily straightened her back, curled her lips, and smiled a little:

" I don't think so, I don't think a silly garment like this can catch Miss Clara's blue eyes!"- Lily studied Clara's entire body with her gaze. The two of them wore little difference, so a turn from top to bottom produced appraisal. She wouldn't be able to play with her if the other person was actively hunting for a tale.

" Is it mediocre? "- Clara had not expected Lily to make such a blunt remark about her. Didn't Lily mean to make fun of her since she didn't have any eyes? Her rank was noble, but she was dressed in the same way as someone from a lower social class, as the owner affirmed. She made as much fun of Lily as she did of herself.

" I just don't think this outfit is right for you! There is no other interpretation! Miss Clara, please accept my apologies!"- Lily exclaimed as she walked by her to the main hall, where everyone could see that the story had come to an end. Clara glared at Lily's back, then furiously turned to Vivian, who stood in the distance, it appears that this Lily is becoming increasingly difficult to deal with.
