CHAPTER 7 Leaving For Kitwe.

Chapter 7

After coaxing Natasha for the whole weekend , Jayden was ready to go to work being a Monday. He was a senior engineer of A&J construction company and one of the engineers in charge of building Mr Silavwe’s shopping complex. Slacking was not an option as he wanted to get rid of all the pending issues he had before he left for kitwe. Jayden went to the garage and got into his car. Once He sat in, he got a call from Natasha “I miss you already.”

Natasha had a bad feeling about Jayden leaving for kitwe the following day. She did not want him to meet Laura but trying to convince him not to go was all in vain since she knew just how much this project was important to him and also to her money wise.

He chuckled and replied “Don’t worry I’ll be back home before you know it.”

After hanging up the phone, he drove the car out of the garage and left for the office.

Once he reached his office, he headed straight to the conference room where he had a meeting with other members of the group that were going to work on Mr Silavwe’s project. They had reached an agreement on the bearings of the partnership and further worked on the details of the project which included the architectural design of the building, materials that would be used, transportation, wages and so on.

Jayden nodded in satisfaction as everything worked according to plan. He then spoke in a lenient voice “ If there is anything we have forgotten, please don’t hesitate to contact me about it.”

The declaration of everyone’s support made the meeting run smoothly. All were prepared for the project.

The secretary of his boss quickly came and stood in Front of Jayden.

“Engineer Jayden, the CEO demands your presence in his office immediately.”

Jayden raised his left dark eyebrow “ Alright, I will be on my way.”

Mr Jere was the CEO of A&J construction company, he was so fond of Jayden and thought of him as his son since he only all his three children where just ladies. At some point, he wanted Jayden to marry one of his daughters but did not take things further when he discovered that Jayden already had a partner.

Jayden followed the secretary behind and hurriedly reached the CEO’s office. He took a deep breath, maintaining his composure and knocked on the door.

“Come in Jayden” Mr Jere sat upright behind his office desk looking at the person at the door with a smile.

Jayden walked to the chairs in front of the desk and took his sit on one. “ You asked for my presence sir.”

Mr Jere pushed aside the documents he was working on and gave his undivided attention to Jayden.” Yes, I just wanted to congratulate you on your new project. Mr Silavwe is such a big fish and I know he will will pay us handsomely for his project. Keep up with your good work. You can call me If there is anything you need during your three months stay in Kitwe.”

Jayden smiled as he looked at the CEO who was in front of him. He was his role model. “Yes sir, I’ll do as you say. I’m now taking my leave.” Jayden stood up and headed out of the office.

By 5 PM Jayden was done with all the pending issues and was ready to take his leave out of the office. Before he walked out of the door, Natasha walked in. “ Hello baby! I came to pick you up for dinner, my treat. I hope you are you done with work.”

Jayden was happy to see the pretty lady standing in front of him. “ I don’t mind being treated by my queen.” He walked towards her and leaned down for a kiss.

“We can go.”

Natasha nodded “I already booked a reservation at a restaurant, I’m sure you will like the food.”

Natasha did not like to cook and when she did she was terrible at it. However, Jayden did not mind at all although he missed home cooked food which Laura prepared for him when ever she visited him over the weekends.

When they arrived at the restaurant they bumped into Agness, Laura’s best friend.

Agness scoffed. “ what an unpleasant surprise having to meet a cheater and his side chick here. It’s so good to see her looks are way below Laura’s.”

Natasha did not make a sound but her face became cold and hoped Jayden can stand up for her before she could create a scene.

Despite Jayden’s facial expressions becoming gloomy he knew Natasha’s temperament so he just ignored Agness and gently took Natasha’s hand so that they could go to their reserved table. Even though her appetite almost got ruined, she was happy that Jayden still dotted on her, giving her all the undivided attention she could get that evening.

Agness felt so enraged and called Laura.” Guess who I am with right now? Jayden and his partner in crime. I am so mad right now that I can immediately go to their table and pounce on them both. He has no remorse for what he did to you….”

The two best friends talked on the phone for a couple of minutes before Agness hung up and left the restaurant no longer interested in the food being served.

The next morning, Natasha packed all the necessities that Jayden needed for his trip in his bag. Jayden took his bath and was getting ready to start off. She went to him and huddled in his chest, looking at him with pitiful eyes.”You must be calling me, promise?”

“I promise.” He tugged her in for a deep kiss.

Natasha exhaled and hugged him. After letting him go, he reached out for his cologne which was in one of the drawers filling up the entire bedroom with his manly woody scent.

“ I am going to miss you.” Natasha couldn’t help but say it loud, admiring the man who was in front of her.

“I will miss you too my love. You should visit me during the weekends and check up on the house often since you have a spare key.” Jayden replied.

Ever since things started getting so heated up between herself and Jayden, she preferred staying at his place to hers but now that he was leaving for kitwe, she had no choice but to go back to her apartment.

He finally got his bag and headed out of the house to the garage. He got in his car and started off to kitwe feeling nervous about how he was going to face Laura and not the project.
