CHAPTER 8 I am Sorry.

Laura had a busy day at work, she had a huge heap of work to do for a client who kept on demanding for a review of his company’s financial documents. Reviewing the accuracy of a company’s financial reports and it’s compliance with the laws and regulations did take quite some time but the client was too pesky so she forced herself to finish up by the end of the week.

She was however happy that her mind was going to be filled up with work and not Jayden for the rest of the week. While she was busy working on her laptop for a couple of hours, a message appeared on her phone. It was from Jayden.

[ I am in kitwe, I want to see you. Should I come to your apartment or your workplace? Your choice.] Laura knitted her eyes as she read the message on her phone.

[I do not want to see you at all.] she replied.

[Okay, your place then. I understand you’re busy with work. See you at 7!]

Laura’s mood suddenly changed. She knew how persistent Jayden was when he wanted something to happen in his accordance but she did not want anything to do with him anymore. “ Why doesn’t he want to understand that I don’t want to see him at all?” Laura thought to herself.

It was 5 PM and Laura was ready to go home. She hailed for a taxi cab in front of her office building and went home. After opening the front door of her apartment, she walked through to her living room, sat on the sofa and removed her black stilettos off her feet. Then she took the tv remote and turned it on.

“ It’s about time I buy myself a good car.” Laura sighed as she took her phone and checked the account balance of her savings account. She went online and started browsing for a car that lined with her preferences.

Once she bought one online, she went to her bedroom and decided to take a relaxing bath. When she was done, she got dressed up in her comfy clothes and headed to the kitchen so that she can prepare herself a good meal for dinner.

Her phone read 6:30 PM and she found herself nervously waiting for Jayden to ring her doorbell.

“This isn’t right, why am I expecting a man who broke my heart?” She murmured quietly to herself. She then took her phone and called Agness.

Beep.

After a few seconds Agness picked up. “ Hello baby, how are you?”

Laura felt at ease after hearing her best friend’s voice. “ I am not alright, Jayden is kitwe and he is coming to my house anytime soon. What should I do? I don’t want to talk to him but you know how Jayden is.”

“ What?! Are you being real? What does he want now? Do not open the door for him, he does not deserve your attention.” Agness sneered.

Laura took a quick glance at her front door as she heard the doorbell ring.

“Okay, I think he is here I guess. Let me hear what he has to say. Don’t worry I won’t fall into his arms again.”

Agness gave out a mocking laugh and responded.

“ Okay, I know you’ve got this but don’t fall for his trap again because I’ll come and kill both of you with my bare hands.”

Laura laughed and hung up the phone then headed to her door. She opened the door and Jayden was standing at the door with a banquet of red roses and her favorite chocolates.

Her first instinct was to give him a hard slap on his face and her second was to quickly shut the door on his face, giving him no room for an explanation.

“ Won’t you let me in? Laura we need to talk even though I know you don’t want to see me. Please let me in.” He immediately stopped the door from closing with his foot as he already read her thoughts of shutting the door in his face.

“What do you want from me Jayden? You and I know we have clearly nothing to talk about.” She stepped away from the door so that he let himself in.

“ I know you don’t want anything to do with me but I came here to apologize to you. You really do not deserve a cheating man for a boyfriend. Please forgive me and I’ll will try and do better.” He gently put the flowers and chocolates on the table and hoped for a positive response from Laura. However, he knew he had no chance at it.

“Try and do better!” Laura scoffed. “ you must think I am going to easily forgive you, right?! Dream on!”

“ I know that’s a long shot but I’ll be in kitwe for the next three months. During my stay here, I’ll prove to you just how sorry I am. Please give me a chance, will you?”

“ Please leave my house.” Laura was no longer interested in the conversation anymore.

“ I will be here tomorrow again. You better get used to seeing me everyday for the next three months.” He took a final glance at her before he left her house.

Jayden wasn’t sure with what he felt for Laura but after having an encounter with her now, he finally knew what he wanted. He wanted her back but this time with Natasha out of the picture, how he was going to do that is what he didn’t know yet.
