Chapter 121

Farren's Point of View

The house was deathly silent. Not a stir or sigh. Even the door clicking shut behind Priamos sounded too loud. I flinched when it clicked. Looked over my shoulder at my brother. When he noticed my eyes drilling into him, he only shrugged.

No one was home, that much was clear. But from the guards outside speaking too much, I knew my mother would be in her room. She had no other place to go. Barely had the strength to eat, let alone move around. The doctor told us a few weeks ago that the end was near.

Our bodies healed too fast. Which in turn made cancer run rampant. It was a horrible cycle and one none of us escaped alive. At least it wasn't as prevalent within wolves as it was with humans. But when it did strike, it took no prisoners. Only bodies.

"Can we please abort this insanity? Why do you want to torture a dying woman more?" Nicolas hissed behind me.
