Chapter 61

Farren's Point of View

Most of the house remained unchanged. Except for the photos on the walls. Some of those were taken down. But only the ones that I had been in. It had been three days since I had last been here and I had already been erased from their lives.

It showed just how much they needed me. How much I fit into this family. No doubt Louisa had taken them down at the behest of Leon. How my mother hadn't noticed the change was beyond me. She loved looking up at our faces from time to time. Admired her children.

But I had been the reason her children scattered to the wind, each in their own direction.

Leon had taken his punishment personally and now I lost this side of my family because of it. Refused to admit his own wrongdoings and blamed the maiming solely on me. As if he hadn't hurt me. Had gone in to deliver another blow.

One could be forgiven if the excuse was right. Two? Well, that was just getting a bit greedy.

"Farren," Louisa drawled from the top of the stairs
