Chapter 93

Farren's Point of View

I woke up in Alejandro's arms. Felt his body pressing into mine from the side. It was welcomed. Made me feel safe and secure. But I was cruelly reminded of all that had transpired lately. My accident. The house. His mother laying in a hospital bed on the other side of the city.

All of it forced me to sit upright whilst Alejandro kept on dreaming. Didn't even stir. His snores bounced off of the walls. His lips were parted as he kept on sleeping.

Shimmying my way out of his hold, I let my feet touch the soft carpet beneath the bed. For a moment, I only sat and rubbed my toes into the rug. Toyed with the lush strands. It grounded me enough that my breathing became even again. My heart stopped racing.

Whilst sleeping, my body had broken into a cold sweat. Drenched my lace night dress. Let it paste to my skin. I wasn't sure of what I dreamt but knew it couldn't have been good. Not that my reality was any better.
