“I was going to tell you it was going to last all weekend, but I chickened out last minute. I’m sorry.” He says all of this in one breath.

I’m too guilt ridden to get mad at him, and my smile is as real as it can get whilst full of guilt.

Plus, his apology was my undoing. It was cute.

“Its okay.”

He peers into my face, his brows pulled together in the way they do when he studies me.

I make my eyes wider, trying to create the illusion of everything is okay.

“Are you sure?”

I wave his concerns away,

“Positive. I’m just feeling the exhausted. Speaking of, where is the room?” I ask as we stand in the hallway packed full of framed memories.

His mom had asked me to show me to the room I'll be staying for the weekend, and he spilled his guts immediately we were away from earshot.

He scratches the back of his neck.

“Here.” He points to the only room in the hallway and shrugs.

“My sisters took everything else and left me with this.”
