Chapter 5

Alton's POV

I stayed in the mansion even though I can feel that my father don't want me to be there.

I forced myself into a place where I no longer belong because this is the only thing that I can do for my mother. If my mother lives a miserable life then they should feel the same.

"You didn't tell me that Solana Reev is your step-sister," Sebastian uttered while his eyes is focus on Solana who is busy entertaining my father's guest.

My eyebrows furrowed then looked at Sebastian.

"You know her?" I asked then shifted my gaze to Solana who is stealing glances in our direction but when I caught her she immediately looked away.

"Kris her manager is a friend of mine. I met her at the bar once," he responded so I simply nod my head and sip on the wine glass that I am holding.

"She's a total catch bro. Too bad she left early that night," he added.

"She's your type?" I asked then looked at Sebastian intently.

"Why? Do you plan on indulging yourself in forbidden romance?" he asked back followed by a chuckle but I nod my head and looked at him seriously.

"Yes, any problem with that Sebastian?" I asked while looking at him intently.

Sebastian's eyebrows furrowed.

"Is this about your mother?" he asked. I swallowed hard and then gulped the wine that I am holding.

"She's innocent in this Alton," he said but a sarcastic smile appeared on my lips.

"My mother is also innocent Sebastian but they ruined her and now I can't find her Sebastian. I will go to a greater length just to have her back and if ruining my father's life will make her come back then I'll do it even if it means using Solana," I firmly uttered.

Sebastian shook his head telling me that he disagrees with my plan but he chose to keep his silence.

When the party ended Sebastian bid his goodbye.

The whole mansion became quiet again after my father's birthday celebration.

Solana volunteered on helping the maids so I did the same.

I walked towards her and helped her in removing some decorations.

"What are you doing here?" she asked in her usual snob tone.

I simply smiled at her and then took the decoration that she can't reach.

"Helping you," I simply responded.

Solana rolled her eyes and then walked away.

She approached Martha and helped her in wiping the tables.

"You should rest Solana we are fine here," Martha told her but Solana simply smiled.

"It's fine Martha. I don't have anything to do anyway," she responded then continued wiping the table.

After a while, she turned her head on me.

"You want to help right?" she sweetly asked so I nod my head without hesitation.

"Put all the tables on the side," she uttered.

My eyebrows furrowed upon looking at the tables but instead of complaining I forced a smile and followed her order.

I started lifting the table and put it on the side.

Martha tried stopping me telling me that we have men for that but I ignored her.

It was almost an hour before I finished.

I sat on the grass and then wipe the sweat on my forehead.

I am panting so Martha handed me bottled water.

"I already told you we have men for that," she scolded me but I just smiled at her and then turned my head to Solana.

I saw guilt in her eyes while she looked at me but after a few seconds, she looked away when she can no longer hold the intensity of my stare.

"I have to go," she excused herself so I immediately followed her.

Before she could even climb the stair I held her wrist and made her face me.

"What?" she irritatedly asked which made me smile.

"You are mad at me again," I said.

"Just leave me alone Alton," she uttered pissed at me.

"I'm just trying to build a relationship with you. If you can't see me as a man then I'm fine with sibling relationship," I uttered.

"I'm not good at chasing women anyway. I just want to have some fun and pissing you off keeps me entertained but it's starting to get boring. Now, all I want is to have a good relationship with you maybe that can help me in fixing my relationship with Dad," I added.

Solana looks at me intently then after a few seconds she let out a deep breath.

"Okay," she simply responded then removed my hold.

After that, she walked away.

I watched Solana as she climbed the stairs instead of following her I headed towards the kitchen to have a few drinks to help me sleep.

While I am having alone time in the kitchen my father stepped inside.

I turned my head on him and then offered him a drink.

My father let out a deep breath and then took the glass in my hand.

Dad gulped the liquor and then occupied the seat beside me.

"Are you okay?" he asked and this is the first time he asked me that question ever since I moved back to the mansion.

"Yeah. Happy birthday by the way," I uttered then flashed a simple smile.

"Thank you...son," he responded then smiled at me, genuinely.

"I know you are blaming me for your mother's disappearance but believe me son I felt disheartened when she left. I did everything I can to find her but I guess she hates me that much so she refuses to be found," he explained but those words can't sway me. In my eyes, he will always be the reason why Mom live a miserable life.

"Why did you choose that woman over Mom, Dad?" I asked and this is the first time that I dared to ask that question.

Dad let out a deep breath and then looked at me intently.

"I love your Mom, Alton, God knows that but I can't forget Alicia. She is my first love. Before I married your Mom, Alicia is my girlfriend but my parents forced me to leave her since I am bound to marry your Mom for the sake of family business. Your mother is a good woman but you can't force yourself to stay in a marriage that you don't want in the first place Alton. I can't keep on fooling myself," he said. My hold on the glass tightened. I let out a deep breath to calm myself.

"Are you happy now?" I asked.

My father looks at me intently and after a few seconds, he nods his head.

"I'm happy Alton," he responded.

"I hope you won't regret your decision Dad," I said then smiled at him before drinking the liquor.

My father looked at me intently then after a while he stood up.

"I know you hate me son but I hope you won't do anything that will ruin this family," he uttered then tapped my shoulder.

"I'm tired of trying Dad. It doesn't change anything anyway. I will just focus on finding Mom," I responded.

My father smiled at me believing all the lies that my mouth uttered.

I won't get tired of avenging Mom, Dad. I will be your Nemesis Dad.
