Solana's POV

Alton spent the night at my house, as he usually does. Our typical routine involves playing with Atlas after dinner and then tucking him into bed. Once Atlas is asleep, we head to my room. Feeling sticky, I decided to take a quick shower. When I finished, I stepped out of the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Alton also took a quick shower. As he emerged from the bathroom, a towel hung loosely around his waist. I immediately averted my gaze, feeling my cheeks flush. However, I pretended like nothing had happened and lay on the bed, covering myself with a blanket. Soon, I felt the other side of the bed sink, indicating that Alton had occupied it.

After a while, I felt his arms wrap around my waist as he pulled me closer to his body. Alton buried his face in my neck, and I couldn't help but ask,

"Are you okay?" He nodded and planted a soft kiss on my shoulder, his voice carrying a sense of heaviness.

"Is it about your mother?" I cautiously inquired, aware of his emotional burden.
