It wasn’t until they were finished eating and had started clearing the dishes that Alex said, “I’m sorry. For thinking you would do that to me. I even talk bad about our own son”

Ash shook his head. “I’m sorry I didn’t make things clear sooner.” He looked down at Adom, who was carefully stacking his own bowls, and Alex  then back up at Ash. “I’m sorry you had to raise him alone. I am sorry I am not here when you are in pain.”

Ash eyes were suspiciously shiny. He huffed a little, and then visibly decided to make a joke out of it, saying, “You’re right. Adom, what do you say we let Papa take care of the dishes today? He has seven years to make up for.”

“Okay, okay,” Alex said, laughing. He got a kiss from Ash as he passed to collect Adom from his chair, so it was worth it. Alex would gladly do the dishes every day for the rest of his life as long as Ash was beside
