The next few minutes passed by in a blur, happening so fast that I didn't really know what hit me until it had already hit me. It seemed to me like this was the point in the conversation that Elijah had been waiting for, the one that he had been aiming to reach. I wouldn't have guessed it to be the case, but once he knew that I was fully aware of what he had meant with that statement, he got up and walked out of the bathroom, like he hadn't even been there in the first place.

I didn't know why he chose then to leave, but I wasn't going to get up and go after him in order to question him, either. As much as I was interested in knowing what was going through his mind, I knew that I was in no position to do so. There were aches and pains everywhere in my body, and all that there was for me to do, was to lay here and recover from it.
