PROLOGUE

Jackson's POV

MATE!

Jackson’s muscles tensed abruptly. He came to a halt in the rear of his office table while reading. His nose was filled with a lovely scent.

That’s our mate!

His wolf growled out. It was restless in his head and sought to regain control.

He rose to his feet and walked over to the window. He opened it and he closed his eyes even more with that unusual fragrance.    He took off his shirt and went up to the window and jumped.  He altered his form more quickly than ever before. When he landed, he was able to transform into a black wolf.

“Alpha?”

He looked at his beta, who approached him instantly. Perhaps he collected on the tension in his presence. The Beta and the Alpha have a special bond. The Beta can sense when his Alpha is in distress. His role is to guard and be faithful to his alpha.

“I feel her, my mate. She is close by.” - he spoke with him in mind.

His beta’s look was startled, but quickly changed to one of pleasure. He nodded and stepped aside. He bolted from the pack house and towards the woods, where the peculiar smell originated.

His heart was racing. He was ecstatic to discover his mate. He’d been anticipating that for a long time. A wolf’s mate is often found at the age of sixteen. However, when he reached the age of twenty-four, he was still unable to locate his Luna. Many already believe he is mateless. But nobody is even attempting to cast doubt on it, owing to his father’s status as an Alpha.

Who is going to stand up to a cruel leader? That was the case with his father. His father was infamous for his ruthlessness and cruelty. Despite the fact that it was his own kid, did not except its cruelty.

Everyone considers him to be like his father. They are scared to criticize or reject his lack of mate potential as a wolf. He also knew that some of his father’s foe was already pushing to speak with the council, so he would lose his status as an Alpha of RueClaw.

However, everyone would fail because he’s now close to his Luna.

He came to a halt as the smell became stronger. It smelled like a cross between cinnamon and sandalwood. He was not a fond of cinnamon, yet it smelled amazing just now.

He was trapped in the midst of the forest, in a creek. RueClaw retains ownership of this portion of the land. The brook is the dividing line between the two towns.

He was taken aback when he noticed a young woman seated on a tree branch. She was dressed in a white gown and wore no shoes. Her pitch-black gaze locked on the stream below. The breeze ruffled her hair. The pleasant aroma as it approaches causes him to close his eyes.

Mate! - growled his wolf.

“Yes,” he said, confirming that he had found his Luna.

Unfortunately, there was something odd about her.

And he quickly clenched his palm into a fist upon noticing something strange about the female.
