Chapter - 50
Ivy's POV
I could feel my heart beat drumming in my ears as I made my way downstairs with Chris by my side.
The men who were supposed to bring the body I had to identify were here. There were four buffed up looking guys standing around the body covered in white from head to toe and they all bowed their heads respectfully in greeted as soon as they saw Chris and I.
Suddenly, an image of my father in the ambulance flashed in front of my mind's eye and I whimpered involuntarily. Instantly, Chris was wrapping his fingers around mine and squeezing. "It's alright, love. I'm right here for you no matter what happens."
I nodded slowly. Chris somehow always knew the perfect thing to say. He knew I didn't need empty consolations of everything would be alright, or I'll be fine. He simply told me he'd always be here to support me. And somehow, that was just enough.

Chris' POV The others were already seated by the time Ivy and I made our way downstairs. Ivy's POV Chris had been busy with his meetings all day long, and so had the rest of his council members, which left us girls alone. Ivy's POV The Ball last night had been a pleasant enough affair. Save from the lone incidence about what had happened with Luna Seline, everyone had been pleasant enough to me. The next two days and nights had gone by in a similar fashion, with little to no incidence and tonight was the last night of the Imperial Ball. Chris' POV Ivy looked around, the panic clear on her face. As far as I knew, Misha had become a good friend of hers over the course of the last few days, and she was obviously worried for her friend.
