Chapter Nine

Emelia’s Point of View.

“Please Mia. Your mother needs you just for tomorrow. I promise I will make sure that you don’t get to meet him again. I will get the first flight to look for Eleanor” she pleaded with me, it was the first time I saw my mother being vulnerable like this.

I have always known my mother to be an iron lady who doesn’t break down or back out of a fight. I swallowed hard as I shook my head.

“I am sorry mu. I don’t think I can do this” I maintained as she looked away from me reluctantly nodding her head.

“I love you and I know what this company means to you but I can’t step into someone’s shoes and take over her life. That’s being a fraud” I said to her as she swallowed looking away from me.

There was an awkward silence as I stood near her desk waiting for her to say something to me. She was quiet staring out the window like she was helpless and didn’t know what to do.
