Chapter 13 - Engagement

“Are you alright? Take deep breaths if you don’t feel okay, honey,” Charlotte sits beside Charlene, handing her a glass of water. It has been two days since she arrived at their castle.

She was called for the pact that will take place in the evening of this very day. Charlene is nervous. Her limbs are weak, and her hands tingle. Her tongue is itchy, and her stomach is twitchy. Charlene does not feel good.

Not when she left the academy with not so very good note.

“How could she be fine, Mom? Charlene never even slept since she arrived!” Ashina sits beside them and holds Charlene’s hands. “If you have something to say, you gotta say it now, or you can never back down on this, Char,”

“Ashina,” Charlotte warns her. The latter did not mind. Her deep purple eyes were set on her little sister, who was about to have her hand promised for marriage. Ashina understands that this is all because of what Charlene wished for their father when she was a kid.
