Chapter 27 - Rain and Worries

“Have you sent the letter to Charlene?” Alphonse asked Camon. The latter bowed and nodded at him. He was instructed to send it to the woman a week ago, and there was no reply even now. If this was the old Charlene, she would have rushed to her sister’s side the moment she heard of the news.

So what could have been different now? What is so important that she does not stand here beside her sister?

“Send another letter,” Alphonse said. Camon did not argue further and instead left to send another letter to the young lady. “No, no. Don’t send another letter. Call Adolphus here,”

Camon stared at his lord for a while, “Did you not hear me? Call my eldest son now!” he shouted. No one could really be any more surprised that he’s agitated. It had been over a week since his eldest daughter had gotten worse.

No father could have been able to withstand the fact that his daughter could die at any moment, and their family was not even ready to send her away.
