Chapter 2

Jelca's knees were shaking as she entered the large entrance of their house. She didn't know what she was going to do. Her gaze circled all around. She rushed towards her mother, who also rushed to go her way.

“They're real! Mama, I'm not lying. Believe me, Mama!” she said hysterically.

Her mother was full of confusion. Her mother touched her on both cheeks and tried to calm her down.

“What is real? What are you talking about, Jelca? Fix yourself! You look like a fool!” her mother said.

"I-I saw it! His fangs are sharp! His nails are long and sharp too, Mama! That demon's blue eyes are really terrifying! His fur is thick. He's big too! He's real! They're real! They're f-fucking real! T-The werewolves a-are real, Mama," she told her mother.

There's a sudden changed in her mother's emotion. Even if her mother won't tell her, she would sense that her mother is hiding something from her.

“W-Why, Mama? Have you seen one? Why you didn't tell me about them!? Y-You always told me before that they were all fictitious! You told me not to believe in werewolves because they are not r-real.”

She heard the heavy breath came from her mother. She stopped mumbling things and focused on her mother.

“They are not real! Werewolves are not real! Don't believe on them! As what I've told you, I will stick with that! So, come with your senses, Jeliane Carmen! Come with your senses!” her mother shouted.

Because of her mother's thunder shout, she saw her father coming their way.

“What's happening here, Marcela?” Lio, her father, asked her mother. “Jelca, what's this scene? Why you look exhausted? Are you being disturbed by assholes?” his father asked, looking at her way.

The three of them stared at the woman stepping inside their house. Kate threw a question-stare at her.

“J-Jelca, what had happened?” Kate asked with worries.

Jelca's mind was unstable. Her thoughts were all mixed up.

Her eyes widened when she witnessed how her father stepped in Kate's direction and slapped her.

“Ah! F-Forgive me, P-Papa! I-I didn't mean to be careless and let Jelca get home on her own. T-The car's tire was in need to be fixed,” her sister cried.

“You are mindless! How many times I had reminded you to protect her!? Are you numb?”

“Papa!” Jelca shouted while tears travels down her pale face. “It's not Kate's fault. Can you please stop blaming her? I am old enough to watch myself over! L-Look! I'm fucking safe!” she explained.

She felt pity for her sister. Kate's face has three wounds, maybe that was caused by her father's nails.

“If you are, then why you look chaotic?” Lio asked.

“I-I saw a monster. I was afraid when his eyes met mine. He was furious. He even wanted to slap me. B-But I escaped and ran away from him,” she told her father.

“They are not real, Jelca. You are just having hallucinations!” her mother interrupted.

She stared on her mother. “Why you're not believing me, Mama? They are real! I saw one! I saw him transforming into a wolf. Furthermore, I saw a werewolf with my eyes!” she said.

“Stop this senseless discourse.”

Her father walked out. So, her mother.

She walked to Kate and lifted her sister's swollen face. She hugged her sister and kept on tapping Kate's back.

“I-I am sorry, Kate. You're being hurt again b-because of me,” she cried.

Her sister distanced herself from her. She saw how drops of tears fell down from Kate's eyes.

“I'm used to it, Jelca. It's all my fault, after all. I did not assure everything before driving.” Kate forced a smile. Tears and blood mixed up together on Kate's face, but she did check Jelca's body. “Are you alright? Are you hurt, my baby sister? I'm sorry if I was unable to protect you from that monster. I-I am sorry,” Kate said while holding and squeezing Jelca's hands.

Even though their father hurt Kate, Kate still thought of her.

“You're the one who's hurt. I'm alright, Kate,” Jelca said as she continued to cry sympathizing with her sister.

“I said, don't mind me, Jelca. You should have been ready yourself now, it's not three o'clock yet. I'll take you to the coffee shop,” said her sister.

“I'm not going back to the coffee shop. I'm just going to look for another part-time job, Kate. Come on, I'll treat you,” she said as she left to get a medicine kit.

Her eyes widened when she saw her sister's face with no wound when she was back in the living room. She swallowed and ran to their kitchen. She took a glass and immediately stuffed it under the dispenser. Furthermore, she took some water and immediately drank it all.

“I'm going crazy!” She struck her head with his hand.

Kate smiled at her, so she became more confused. What is going on around her? Earlier, she had seen a wolf. She also witnessed how blood clotted on her sister's cheek. Kate had a wound before, but now her wounds suddenly disappeared.

“What's wrong with you, Jelca? Why are you so shocked?” her sister asked.

Jelca approached Kate, and she immediately looked at the wound on her sister's cheek. She was not mistaken, their father had inflicted three consecutive wounds on her sister's face earlier. Jelca fails to find Kate's wound. Not even a scar appeared on her sister's skin.

“What's going on around here, Kate? My eyes saw how your cheek bleeds. But, now I can't find even a scar. W-What happened? How did your wounds disappear just l-like that!?” Jelca asked curiously.

“N-Nothing!” Kate replied and left her alone.

She kicked hard while tugging at her hair.

“What the hell is happening to you, people? You're driving me crazy! Bullshit!” she shouted alone in the middle of their living room.

She sat down on the soft sofa. Both of her elbows were resting on her knees. Her hands touched her face as she continued to think about the things that had happened recently.

She remained in that position for a few minutes before she thought of getting up and going to her room.

She hurried to get dressed and immediately fix herself. Furthermore, she thought about the things that had happened. Jelca immediately thought of his friend Merfie.

“If no one believes me in this house, it's Merfie I should go to!” She took a deep breath because of the stress reigned over her emotions. “Why didn't I think of that woman earlier? Maybe she can also answer the question of why Kate's wound disappeared like a popped bubble,” she added.

She hurriedly stared into the mirror. She would despise everyone, only to find the answers in her mind.

--

Lio was sitting on the other end of the bed while his wife Marcela was folding her back.

The day they feared had come. Jelca is no longer young enough to believe in their fictional stories. So, they were anxious that Jelca might have seen someone like her.

“I don't know how else I can deceive our daughter, Lio. She's old enough to determine the truth from the not,” Marcela said sadly. “I'm afraid that maybe that werewolf she saw was what Elenia's prophecy said before we left the Midnight Storm Pack. I don't want our daughter to be in danger. I'm afraid.” Marcela's voice was almost shattered as she said her words.

“We will do everything to keep Jelca away from this place. She cannot stay in the place that will give her questions that we always refuse to answer,” Lio suggested.

The couple stared at each other at the same time. Their hearts are full of fear.

“Jelca will ask, Lio. She will be more skeptical when we move again,” Marcela insisted.

Lio stood up, and he went the way of his wife.

“What do you want? Let's stay here and little by little Jelca discovers what she is? Perhaps, you forgot that she's a black wolf, Marcela!?” said Lio aloud.

Marcela stood up and pushed her face that was red with anger at Lio.

Marcela's eyes suddenly turned yellow and her fangs dropped.

“Lower your voice, Lio! Only the four of us, you, I, Kate and Elenia, know that my daughter is a black wolf! If she is ruined because of your eloquent tongue, I will not forgive you,” she threatened Lio.

Lio's nails came out forcibly. His eyes also turned yellow like Marcela's.

“I told you before to just let our pack eat the child. But you stood up and raised the child who didn't come from your womb, Marcela! Now, you're blaming me? You should have just let Jelca die before!” Lio's thunderous shout.

Marcela was unable to control herself. She has become a wolf. She lifted Lio and scratched her husband's shoulder. Marcela forcefully restored her human form.

“You son of a whore! You have no right to curse my daughter to death,” she shouted and immediately left Lio.

Lio took a deep breath and forcibly turned into a wolf. He licked his wounds until they healed.

When Lio returned to being human, he came to his senses. He just burst into tears because he felt sorry for Jelca. He felt guilty of the bad words he said. Furthermore, he loves Jelca very much, even though she is not his real child. He was just so angry that he could say those hurtful words.

The truth is that he is afraid of losing the child.

Jelca's real parents were greedy for power. According to what he hears, the real parents of Jelca were still in charge of the black wolves as their Alpha and Omega.

“Elenia, I know you're still alive. Hopefully, we'll meet again, so I can figure out how to hide my daughter, Jelca, from the wolves,” he whispered softly.

For almost 300 years, they have escaped Jelca’s destiny to be the mate of the next Alpha of their pack. They were just too complacent, perhaps they were thinking that they had finally escaped Jelca's destiny.

Lio's gaze fell to the calendar on the wall. His jaw dropped when he saw that the moon was full last night when Jelca saw a werewolf.

“Merciful heavens! Couldn't the appointed time have already happened?” His lips trembled as he uttered it.

Lio approached the calendar to make sure the first full moon of the month happened last night.

His body almost collapsed when he made sure that last night was the first full moon of the month.

“Oh, God! His Majesty just saw my child!”
