I jolt awake to the sounds of screeching tires on asphalt.

The noise was so piercing that it caused me to jump abruptly, bumping into the door frame of the car aggressively.

In my state of confusion, I looked around us and wondered why Lucian was suddenly speeding and where the source of the noises came from. Looking through the windows, I discovered with dread that we were being chased by a number of black sedans with tinted glasses, coming to us at breakneck speed.

I was rather surprised at how I’d just left a festival, to have a case like this. I must have slept off, even though I didn’t think I was able to and now this scene was leaving me disoriented and disturbed.

“Lucian? What’s going on?” My voice trembled lightly, unsure of what to do now. Why were they chasing us?
