“What?!” I all but yelled, thankfully my voice was drowned out by the cacophony of noises from different angles, only drawing the attention of a few passersby.

“Shh! Don’t fucking yell like that, you asshole,” Geri hissed, glaring at me, before leaning back against the counter behind him and taking a swig of his drink.

“Well sorry, but you just said—” I tried amending, still baffled by his words when he beat me to it.

“What? That my fuckin’ mate is my goddamned third cousin and my life has gone to shit?” He scoffed into his whisky, throwing it back and downing the whole thing in one gulp.

After all the crazy and weird things that had happened tonight, by far, the worst one was Geri’s discovery that Star, Martha’s daughter, was his mate.

“What…how did that even fucking happen? You two are related…” I trailed off, dumbfounded still.

“Yea, no shit, Sherlock. I don’t know how, but the goddess was definitely high or drunk on some special fruity wine when she created us as mates,” he c
