Twenty Nine
“Can we trust her?” Alex asked Drake whose footsteps led him away from the entrance to the room as he tore his eyes from the image of Anna hugging her father dearly.
“No. But we have no choice. I have no choice,” Drake replied, his entire being trying to ignore the pain within him that Anna Hendrick’s words caused him.
“Are you really going to tell her everything? You haven’t even found it in you to tell me what happened that day.”
As Drake increased his steps, his head finally found the strength to feel angry about the entire situation. Because of what happened back then, he had to hear Anna rain those words on him.
Those hurtful, painful words.
He knew she did it to get some load off her chest but the person she was dumping it all was not exactly as strong as he seemed. He had his battles he has been trying to fight, it was not certain he could hold on for so long.

As Anna closed the door that led to Drake’s office, she replayed the earlier moment in her head and something inside her wondered if the man was doing fine. “Ugh, I’m sure he is,” she spoke out instantly , shaking her head to get rid of that thing that was trying to act like she cared about the man. Soon, she was downstairs, her bag slung over her shoulder, her feet tapping the ground gently as she walked slowly so as not to worsen her injury.
