Chapter 21

LILITH

Moments like these were rare to come by. I knew I wasn't human but my parents and I kept the facade that we were, because of that, we barely found the time to be what we actually were. This was the second time I had shifted into my wolf. The shift wasn't as painful as my first but it still felt like a saw cutting through my bones. It was worth it, though. Every bone breaking and reshaping, sprouting fur and a big nose, and growing a tail — it had all been worth it.

I could hear the trotting of deer a few miles away, smell the scent of pine and sandalwood, feel the vibrations of the damp earth each time my fluffy ginger paws landed onto it. The ground felt alive beneath me, pulsing with waves of electricity. We felt nature the same way every supernatural did and because of that, we had to obey the laws of nature.

A horrible way to see your parents die. I think Julian's theory on why Huxley and his Pack ran was because of Ambrosia and Dimitri. They probably heard what was going on and probably realized Lilith is Julian's fated mate and the next vampire queen. The color of her eyes are probably the reason.
